Development of salivary antibodies at the age of 4 or 5 years to group A and C meningococcal polysaccharides (MenA/C PS) was studied among Gambian children, who had received MenA/C conjugate or PS vaccine in infancy. There was also a control group of 64 age matched children. IgG, IgA, and secretory Ig concentrations were measured by enzyme immuno assay. MenA/C PS vaccine induced antibodies both in previously vaccinated and unvaccinated children. The previous vaccination had not induced long lasting IgA-mediated memory. IgA antibodies were secretory, and most of IgG was serum derived. The IgG salivary response seen was similar to the serum response.

Background: After surviving Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), some people develop symptoms known as post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC). PASC is an emerging phenomenon yet to be fully understood, and identifying risk factors has been challenging. This study investigated the association between the number of COVID-19 episodes and the incidence of PASC among essential workers.

Vaccination of COVID-19-convalescent individuals may generate 'hybrid' immunity of enhanced magnitude, durability, and cross-reactive breadth. Our primary goal was to characterize hybrid antibody (Ab) responses in a patient cohort infected with ancestral Wuhan-Hu-1 virus and vaccinated between 6 and 10 months later with the Wuhan-Hu-1-based BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine. We were particularly interested in determining the efficacy of neutralizing Ab responses against subsequently emergent SARS-CoV-2 variants.

Anal HPV infection can cause squamous intraepithelial lesions (SILs), which are precursors of anal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The early detection of HPV infections and improvement of effective screening programmes are, therefore, essential to prevent progression from pre-cancerous lesions to SCC, especially in people living with HIV (PLWH), who represent a population at higher risk of HPV infection and associated lesions. Among prevention strategies, HPV vaccination is relevant too, but its efficacy in persons already infected by HPV is still debated.

During the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, researchers attempted to estimate the number of averted and avertible outcomes due to vaccination campaigns to quantify public health impact. However, the estimands used in these analyses have not been previously formalized. It is also unclear how these analyses relate to the broader framework of direct, indirect, total, and overall causal effects under interference.
