This study discusses the chemical perspectives of the [18F]F-PSMA probe, a pivotal tool in prostate cancer imaging. [18F]Fluorine, a positron emitter with a half-life of 109.8 minutes, is produced in a cyclotron by bombarding [18O]-enriched targets with protons.

Carbon use efficiency (CUE) of microbial communities in soil quantifies the proportion of organic carbon (C) taken up by microorganisms that is allocated to growing microbial biomass as well as used for reparation of cell components. This C amount in microbial biomass is subsequently involved in microbial turnover, partly leading to microbial necromass formation, which can be further stabilized in soil. To unravel the underlying regulatory factors and spatial patterns of CUE on a large scale and across biomes (forests, grasslands, croplands), we evaluated 670 individual CUE data obtained by three commonly used approaches: (i) tracing of a substrate C by C (or C) incorporation into microbial biomass and respired CO (hereafter C-substrate), (ii) incorporation of O from water into DNA (O-water), and (iii) stoichiometric modelling based on the activities of enzymes responsible for C and nitrogen (N) cycles.

The algal macrolide goniodomin A (GDA) undergoes ring-cleavage under unusually mild, alkaline conditions to form mixtures of stereoisomers of seco acids GDA-sa and iso-GDA-sa. In the primary fragmentation pathway, opening of the macrolide ring occurs by displacement of the carboxyl group by a base-catalyzed attack of the C32 hemiketal hydroxy group on C31, yielding an oxirane-carboxylic acid, named goniodomic acid. The oxirane ring is unstable, undergoing solvolytic opening to form mainly GDA-sa.

Microbial communities play crucial roles in shaping natural ecosystems, impacting human well-being, and driving advancements in industrial biotechnology. However, associating specific metabolic functions with bacteria proves challenging due to the vast diversity of microorganisms within these communities. In the past decades stable isotope probing (SIP) approaches, coupled with vibrational spectroscopy, have emerged as a novel method for revealing microbial metabolic roles and interactions in complex communities.

Influence of turbulence on the stability characteristics of a water lubricated journal bearing is analyzed. Locus of the journal centre is plotted using the non - linear transient analysis method for different flow regimes of the bearing subjected to three different types of loading. The bearing groove angles of 18 and 36 is considered for the analysis.
