Rational & Objective: Majority of people with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) are sedentary, which increases risk for decreased quality and quantity of life. Development of exercise programs with characteristics that address individual preferences may increase interest in participating and completing exercise programs. We evaluated which exercise intervention characteristics affect exercise program recruitment, adherence, and completion in people with ESKD receiving dialysis.

Clinical prediction models (CPMs) are tools that compute the risk of an outcome given a set of patient characteristics and are routinely used to inform patients, guide treatment decision-making, and resource allocation. Although much hope has been placed on CPMs to mitigate human biases, CPMs may potentially contribute to racial disparities in decision-making and resource allocation. While some policymakers, professional organizations, and scholars have called for eliminating race as a variable from CPMs, others raise concerns that excluding race may exacerbate healthcare disparities and this controversy remains unresolved.

The biotechnological potential of Rieske Oxygenases (ROs) and their cognate reductases remains unmet, in part because these systems can be functionally short-lived. Here, we describe a set of experiments aimed at identifying both the functional and structural stability limitations of ROs, using terephthalate (TPA) dioxygenase (from Comamonas strain E6) as a model system. Successful expression and purification of a cofactor-complete, histidine-tagged TPA dioxygenase and reductase protein system requires induction with the Escherichia coli host at stationary phase as well as a chaperone inducing cold-shock and supplementation with additional iron, sulfur, and flavin.

Cardiorenal syndrome (CRS) describes the maladaptive relationship between heart and kidney dysfunction, with different pathways perpetuating the pathophysiology. Inflammation is one of these mechanisms. It contributes to the final nonhemodynamic pathways of organ dysfunction in the heart-kidney cross-talk.

Membrane-contamination during electrodialysis (ED) process is still a non-negligible challenge, while irreversible consumption and unsustainability have become the main bottlenecks limiting the improvement of anion exchange membranes (AEMs) anti-contamination activity. Here, we introduce a novel approach to design AEMs by chemically assembling 4-pyndinepropanol with bromomethylated poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) (BPPO) in an electrochromic-inspired process. Subsequently, the co-mingled TiO@Ag nanosheet with the casting-solution were sprayed onto the surface of the substrate membrane to create a micrometer-thick interfacial layer.
