Isospin fractionation in nuclear multifragmentation.

Isotopic distributions for light particles and intermediate mass fragments have been measured for 112Sn+112Sn, 112Sn+124Sn, 124Sn+112Sn, and 124Sn+124Sn collisions at E/A = 50 MeV. Isotope, isotone, and isobar yield ratios are utilized to estimate the isotopic composition of the gas phase at freeze-out. Analyses within the equilibrium limit imply that the gas phase is enriched in neutrons relative to the liquid phase represented by bound nuclei. These observations suggest that neutron diffusion is commensurate with or more rapid than fragment production.

As a noninvasive optical method, terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) has been applied to diagnose the plasma parameters. Previous reports mainly focused on the phase and amplitude changes of THz waves induced by the plasma, while the terahertz polarization characteristics were rarely reported. In this paper, in addition to the plasma electron density and terahertz transmittance, we further applied the terahertz time-domain polarimetry (THz-TDP) method to diagnose the terahertz polarization rotation angles induced by an argon inductively coupled plasma (ICP).

Mid-infrared dual-comb spectroscopy offers significant advantages by combining the high sensitivity of mid-infrared spectroscopy with the high spectral resolution and rapid acquisition of the dual-comb method. However, its effective resolution, constrained by the inherent comb line spacing, hinders its ability to resolve narrow absorption features, common in critical applications such as sub-Doppler spectroscopy, low-pressure gas analysis, and construction of the atmospheric profile. To address this challenge, we present a synchronous offset frequency tuning method for the mid-infrared dual-comb system to improve effective resolution far beyond comb line spacing.

High-order harmonics have been widely used as reliable tabletop coherent radiation sources recently, but their applications have often been limited by the available pulse energy. Here, we report that by using an overdriven intense laser in a long waveguide with high-pressure gas, phase matching can be achieved in three distinct "regimes". In the third regime, favorable phase matching is achieved at near-axis positions to enhance harmonic yields.
