A mass spectra (MS) library using in-source collision induced dissociation (ESI-CID) as well as a tandem-mass spectra (MS-MS) library with product ion spectra of drugs has recently been developed with a triple-quadrupole ionspray mass spectrometer [1,2]. For the ESI-CID MS library, single-quadrupole mode and for the MS-MS library triple-quadrupole mode have been used. These mass spectra libraries were applied successfully for the general-unknown screening for drugs and metabolites in serum and urine with liquid-chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) using a PE/SCIEX API 365 with a turboionspray source. As examples, the identification of lorazepam and lorazepam-glucuronide in a serum extract and the identification of sildenafil and alkyloxidated sildenafil in urine are presented here.

The discovery of fullerene following the synthesis of graphene marked a paradigm shift in chemistry. Here, we report the discovery of biycycloborane, arising from the synthesis of borophane (hydrogen boride). Uniquely, this synthesis method involves a decomposition mechanism rather than traditional atom-by-atom assembly, marking an unique approach to constructing complex borane structures.

Background: Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) is proposed for mosquito species identification. The absence of public repositories sharing mass spectra and open-source data analysis pipelines for fingerprint matching to mosquito species limits the widespread use of this technology. The objective of this study was to develop a free open-source data analysis pipeline for Anopheles species identification with MALDI-TOF MS.

Introduction: Poly(methyl vinyl ether co-maleic acid) (PMVE/MA) hydrogel microneedles (HMN) are investigated for transdermal delivery of macromolecular drugs owing to their biocompatibility and super-swelling properties. However, the drug delivery efficacy reduces with increasing molecular weight due to the entrapment within the HMN matrices. Furthermore, integrating external drug reservoirs extends the drug diffusion path and reduces the efficiency of drug permeation.

Efficient oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts with fast kinetics, high efficiency, and stability are essential for scalable green production of hydrogen. The rational design and fabrication of catalysts play a decisive role in their catalytic behavior. This work presents a high-entropy catalyst, FeCoNiCuMo-O, synthesized via carbothermal shock.

To suppress the significant vibration line spectra of piping systems under multi-frequency harmonic excitations, a novel dynamic vibration absorber (NDVA) is designed. The NDVA integrates numerous independent resonant units within a finite space through an ingenious structural design and possesses rich frequency regulation characteristics. A vibration model of the piping system equipped with the NDVA is established, and the approximate equivalent parameters of both the piping and the resonant units are inverted based on the frequency response function (FRF) test results.
