The authors argue that social changes have caused the rupture of communal life in our neighborhoods and that the answer is community-building: strengthening communities holistically, fostering participation and problem-solving, addressing issues of bigotry and poverty, and engaging institutions to work as partners with residents.

In Swedish policy, Universal design (UD) is implemented as a guiding principle. This paper explores the conditions for co-creation when authorities and civil society collaborate. The empirical basis comes from qualitative analysis of interviews, go-alongs, group discussions, and change-oriented workshops in three urban development projects concerning the re-design of public spaces and buildings in three Swedish cities.

Asylum medicine clinics that train clinicians to conduct forensic medical and mental health evaluations (FME) have proliferated in the United States, but there is still significant unmet need in training. We created a 12-week curriculum to develop the core skills needed to conduct effective, trauma-informed FME. Our course used a "flipped classroom" model; participants reviewed didactics in advance from a national, peer-reviewed training program, the Asylum Medicine Training Initiative, and used in-class time for case-based practice as experiential learning.

Water resources are essential for desert oases and are key drivers of local ecological processes critical to the growth of desert vegetation. In this study, the oasis in the hinterland of the Taklamakan Desert, China, was selected as the research subject. Using high-precision classification of oasis vegetation through machine learning, surface water within the oasis was identified and extracted from multi-year Landsat remote sensing data.

Materials And Methods: We launched the Vanderbilt Core Exchange professional development and networking program in 2020. The program was intentionally designed with core personnel input and supports faculty and staff from more than 80 shared resources across Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

This essay describes a process for integrating US Latiné communities as drivers of a grassroots vision for healthy Latiné communities and health equity planning that addresses racial injustices. Transforming structural conditions to promote Latiné community health happens alongside creating conditions for community-level self-determination to foster community-based ecosystems of health. Integrating a life course perspective, we describe a vision for community-based ecosystems of Latiné health that is rooted in forging connections and cultivating community; building community power to address structural drivers of health; leveraging the expertise and assets of to reach, engage, and mobilize communities; scaling solutions through policy, system, and environment changes; and grounding research processes in community-driven priorities.
