Background: There is a growing body of data to support the presence of sex disparities in outcomes of cardiovascular related hospitalizations. Despite this, there remains a paucity of data on relationships between sex and in-hospital outcomes in patients receiving a left atrial appendage occlusion device (LAAOD).

Methods: We examined the 2016-2020 Nationwide Readmission Database to identify patients with Atrial Fibrillation receiving a LAAOD.

Urban environments are exposed to a substantial range of anthropic pressures, including chemical exposure. While trace metals and legacy pollutants have been well documented, the extent of wildlife exposure to emerging contaminants has received little attention, in terrestrial mammals. Concentrations of trace elements (Ag, Al, As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Pb and Zn) and 48 organic pollutants (Polychlorinated Biphenyls: PCBs, Organochlorine Pesticides: OCPs, Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons: PAHs, phthalates and pyrethroid pesticides) were measured in tissues of European hedgehogs (Erinaceus europaeus) in southern Sweden.

SUMOylation is a protein modification process that involves the covalent attachment of a small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) to a specific lysine residue on the target protein. This modification can influence the function, localization, stability, and interactions of proteins, thereby regulating various cellular processes. Altering the SUMOylation of certain proteins is expected to be a potential approach for treating specific cancers and diseases.

Purpose: To develop an educational, interactive, ultra-high resolution, in vivo magnetic resonance (MR) neurography atlas for direct visualization of the brachial plexus and upper extremity.

Methods: A total of 16 adult volunteers without known peripheral neuropathy underwent magnetic resonance (MR) neurography of the brachial plexus and upper extremity. To improve vascular suppression, subjects received an intravenous infusion of ferumoxytol.
