The incidence of adrenergic-induced arrhythmias was studied in 19 patients with chronic obstructive lung disease uncomplicated by respiratory failure or cardiac desease. The effects of isoproterenol hydrochloride and a placebo were studied, using a randomized double blind technique and continuous monitoring of the cardiac rhythm. Two of the patients had episodes of arrhythmia associated only with nebulization of isoproterenol hydrochloride. Ten patients had no abnormality associated with isoproterenol hydrochloride or placebo nebulizations. In the remainder, episodes of arrhythmia occurred but could not be consistently correlated with placebo or drug nrbulizations. None of the patients was aware of any cardiac irregularity. A chi square analysis of the dataindicated no relationship between the isoproterenol nebulizations and cardiac arrhythmias. In our patients with uncomplicated chronic obstructive lung disease, nebulization of adrenergic bronchodilators seemed an infrequent cause of cardiac arrhythmias.

Purpose: The inflammatory response in animal models of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is activated by the NLR-family-pyrin-domain-containing-3 (NLRP3) inflammasome pathway, which is also known to play a role in obesity-related inflammation. The NLRP3/caspase-1/interleukin (IL)-1β pathway might be involved in the progression of COPD with increasing body mass index. To our knowledge, no previous studies have explored the role of NLRP3 inflammasome markers in linking COPD and obesity.

Blood pressure (BP) is a dynamic measure that is frequently discussed in static terms. There exist many limitations in current documentation systems whereby documented BP values may not be reflective of the dynamic variability of BP. This study used an observational, prospective, non-randomized study design to examine the variability in BP response during intravenous vasoactive medication administration in an intensive care unit setting.

Introduction: Reducing unplanned hospital admissions in chronic patients at risk is a key area for action due to the high healthcare and societal burden of the phenomenon. The inconclusive results of preventive strategies in patients with chronic obstructive respiratory disorders and comorbidities are explainable by multifactorial but actionable factors. The current protocol (January 2024-December 2025) relies on the hypothesis that intertwined actions in four dimensions: (1) management change, (2) personalisation of the interventions based on early detection/treatment of acute episodes and enhanced management of comorbidities, (3) mature digital support and (4) comprehensive assessment, can effectively overcome most of the limitations shown by previous preventive strategies.

Background: The factors affecting the prolonged air leak (PAL) and expansion failure in the lung in patients undergoing resection for lung malignancy were analyzed. In this context, the value of the percentage of low attenuation area (LAA%) measured on preoperative quantitative chest computed tomography (Q-: CT) in predicting the development of postoperative PAL and the expansion time of the remaining lung (ET) in patients undergoing resection for lung malignancy was investigated.
Methods: The data of 202 cases who underwent lung resection between July 2020 and December 2022 were analyzed.
