Background: Plants growing on alpine meadows are reported to be rich in phenols. Such compounds may affect ruminal fermentation and reduce the plants' methanogenic potential, making alpine grazing advantageous in this respect. (Rosaceae) was obtained by hydrodistillation, and the chemical composition of the obtained oil was determined by GC/FID and GC/MS.
