To investigate the effects of modified endoscopic retrograde appendicitis therapy (mERAT) on the treatment of children with different severities of acute appendicitis. This study was a case-control study. A total of 586 children with acute appendicitis, who were admitted to the Pediatric Department of Second Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University between January 2019 and November 2023, were selected as the research subjects.

Acute appendicitis is the most common surgical emergency. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical results of laparoscopic appendectomy (LA) for the treatment of uncomplicated and complicated appendicitis. A retrospective analysis was performed who had undergone laparoscopic appendectomy for complicated appendicitis between January 2010 to October 2013.

Purpose: The diagnosis of acute appendicitis remains a challenge in daily clinical practice. The aim of the present study was to determine clinical criteria for a careful and cost-effective integration of computed tomography (CT) scans in the clinical pathway for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis.
Methods: In this retrospective study, we analyzed all patients who were admitted to our hospital with suspected appendicitis (2008-2011).

A 33-year-old man with a history of acute lower abdominal pain was admitted to the emergency room. After laparoscopic appendectomy and pathological confirmed acute appendicitis the patient developed thrombocytopenia and acute renal failure. Serological testing for hantaviruses revealed a positive result for PUUV IgG and IgM.
