This study had 2 objectives: (a) to assess the psychometric properties of the Pain Management Inventory (PMI; G. K. Brown & P. M. Nicassio, 1987) with individuals in the general population with neck or low back pain, and (b) to assess the relationship between pain severity and coping. Data were taken from a mailed survey of a random sample of adults residing in Saskatchewan, Canada. Results validated the 2-factor structure of the PMI and provided evidence for the internal consistency of the coping subscales. Regression analyses revealed that passive coping was associated with being married, greater pain severity, depression, and poor health. Active coping was associated with female gender, higher education, less depression, good health, and frequent exercise. This study provides psychometric data to support the use of the PMI and information about factors associated with use of active and passive coping strategies in pain sufferers.

Polysomnography (PSG) is crucial for diagnosing sleep disorders, but manual scoring of PSG is time-consuming and subjective, leading to high variability. While machine-learning models have improved PSG scoring, their clinical use is hindered by the 'black-box' nature. In this study, we present SleepXViT, an automatic sleep staging system using Vision Transformer (ViT) that provides intuitive, consistent explanations by mimicking human 'visual scoring'.

Fibro-osseous tumors of the craniofacial bones are a heterogeneous group of lesions comprising cemento-osseous dysplasia (COD), cemento-ossifying fibroma (COF), juvenile trabecular ossifying fibroma (JTOF), psammomatoid ossifying fibroma (PsOF), fibrous dysplasia (FD), and low-grade osteosarcoma (LGOS) with overlapping clinicopathological features. However, their clinical behavior and treatment differ significantly, underlining the need for accurate diagnosis. Molecular diagnostic markers exist for subsets of these tumors, including GNAS mutations in FD, SATB2 fusions in PsOF, mutations involving the RAS-MAPK signaling pathway in COD, and MDM2 amplification in LGOS.

Introduction: Patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) are prone to low bone mineral density (BMD). This study aimed to explore factors associated with improved bone health after parathyroidectomy (PTx).
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients who underwent PTx for PHPT at our institution between 2016 and 2020.
