A culpable control model is advanced to describe the conditions that encourage as well as mitigate blame and to assess the process by which blame and mitigation occur. The fundamental assumptions of the model are that evidence concerning harmful events is scrutinized for its contribution to personal control and spontaneously evaluated for its favorableness or unfavorableness. Spontaneous evaluations encourage a blame-validation mode of processing in which evidence concerning the event is reviewed in a manner that favors ascribing blame to the person or persons who evoke the most negative affect or whose behavior confirms unfavorable expectations. The author delineates the elements of perceived control and then discusses spontaneous evaluation influences on control and blame assessments. The blame-validation process is described next. Finally, the culpable control model is compared with extant theories of blame and responsibility and its basic tenets summarized.

Parenthood inevitably includes caring for a child suffering from mild-moderate illness requiring access to health care. Most childhood illnesses can be managed in the community, and parents are encouraged to attend the most suitable primary care service for their needs. Yet the number of children visiting emergency departments with non-urgent illness continues to rise annually, with child attendance representing over 25% of the total workload.

Objective: This research applied emotion regulation to negative emotions felt toward a sex trafficking victim so that judgments were made to offer her services rather than to favor her arrest for prostitution.
Hypotheses: We predicted that participants would favor police not arresting a trafficking survivor for prostitution when she was vulnerable (Hypothesis 1) or she showed no sex work history (Hypothesis 2). We predicted a moderated mediation model (Hypothesis 3), in which emotion regulation training to reduce feelings of contempt, anger, and disgust (CAD) toward the survivor interacted with vulnerability and prior sex work such that the effects of the latter two manipulations were the strongest in the successful emotion regulation conditions (i.

German driving licence law takes a reactive approach to dealing with suitability deficiencies of senior citizens. If the driver is no longer fit to drive and nevertheless participates in traffic, an administrative offence has been committed. If this endangers or injures other people or causes significant damage to property, it may even be a criminal offence.

Musca flies (Diptera: Muscidae) have been found culpable in the mechanical transmission of several infectious agents, including viruses, bacteria, protozoans, and helminths, particularly in low-income settings in tropical regions. In large numbers, these flies can negatively impact the health of communities and their livestock through the transmission of pathogens. In some parts of the world, Musca sorbens is of particular importance because it has been linked with the transmission of trachoma, a leading cause of preventable and irreversible blindness or visual impairment caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, but the contribution these flies make to trachoma transmission has not been quantified and even less is known for other pathogens.

Objective: Young drivers aged 24 and below are at heightened risks of being influenced by their route familiarity levels. This study aims to compare prevalences of crash culpability, crash configurations and risky driver behaviors among newly licensed young drivers when they are driving on roads with different route familiarity levels.
Methods: Based on the road traffic crash and violation data in Yunnan Province of China from January 2017 through December 2019, we classified drivers' different route familiarity levels by utilizing spatial distance away from residence-based method, including driving on high route familiarity (HRF) and low route familiarity (LRF) roads.
