AI Article Synopsis

  • Triadic distance models help analyze relationships between triples of objects, typically assuming three-way symmetry.
  • The current study challenges this assumption by presenting models that accommodate asymmetry in three-way proximity data, allowing for a nuanced representation.
  • An iterative majorization algorithm is introduced to calculate the coordinates and illustrate asymmetry, demonstrated through a case study of longitudinal categorical data.

How the Listener's Attention Dynamically Switches Between Different Speakers During a Natural Conversation.

Psychol Sci

June 2024

State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning and IDG/McGovern Institute for Brain Research, Beijing Normal University.

The neural mechanisms underpinning the dynamic switching of a listener's attention between speakers are not well understood. Here we addressed this issue in a natural conversation involving 21 triadic adult groups. Results showed that when the listener's attention dynamically switched between speakers, neural synchronization with the to-be-attended speaker was significantly enhanced, whereas that with the to-be-ignored speaker was significantly suppressed.

The way in which college students learn online has dramatically altered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Using the triadic reciprocal determinism (TRD) theory, this study aimed to identify the key factors influencing college students' online learning experience through sentiment analysis, text mining, and social network analysis (SNA). Macro- and micro-level parsing was conducted on the SNA model, which was divided into core, mantle, and shell layers to determine the most influential factors in the core layer.

Half of hospice family caregivers report having unmet information needs, which can contribute to poor pain and symptom management, emergency department use, and hospice disenrollment for care-recipients and to caregiver strain and stress. Effective communication between hospice teams and family caregivers is critical yet communication inadequacies persist. Despite the growing prevalence of distance caregiving, including in hospice care, and the relationship between caregiver proximity and communication effectiveness, little is known about how caregiver proximity is associated with caregiver perceptions of hospice communication.

Excitation-contraction coupling in mammalian skeletal muscle: Blending old and last-decade research.

Front Physiol

September 2022

Physiology and Biochemistry Research Group-PHYSIS, Faculty of Medicine, University of Antioquia, Medellín, Colombia.

The excitation-contraction coupling (ECC) in skeletal muscle refers to the Ca-mediated link between the membrane excitation and the mechanical contraction. The initiation and propagation of an action potential through the membranous system of the sarcolemma and the tubular network lead to the activation of the Ca-release units (CRU): tightly coupled dihydropyridine and ryanodine (RyR) receptors. The RyR gating allows a rapid, massive, and highly regulated release of Ca from the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR).

Qualitative Study on the Toxic Triangle Integration of Leadership Ostracism.

Front Psychol

July 2021

Department of Public Administration, College of Public Administration, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China.

Leadership ostracism widely exists in all types of organizations, yet specific study regarding this trend is limited. With this study, we explore the influencing mechanisms of leadership ostracism through case interview based on literature analysis and grounded theory. Results show that leadership ostracism is the integration of a triadic interaction process between subordinate performance, leadership characteristics, and organizational environment.
