We present a new approach to DNA segmentation into compositionally homogeneous blocks. The Bayesian estimator, which is applicable for both short and long segments, is used to obtain the measure of homogeneity. An exact optimal segmentation is found via the dynamic programming technique. After completion of the segmentation procedure, the sequence composition on different scales can be analyzed with filtration of boundaries via the partition function approach.

Non-crossover gene conversion is a type of meiotic recombination characterized by the non-reciprocal transfer of genetic material between homologous chromosomes. Gene conversions are thought to occur within relatively short tracts of DNA, estimated to be in the order of 100-1,000 bp in humans. However, the number of observable gene conversion tracts per study has so far been limited by the use of pedigree or sperm-typing data to detect gene conversion events.

We aimed to build a robust classifier for the MGMT methylation status of glioblastoma in multiparametric MRI. We focused on multi-habitat deep image descriptors as our basic focus. A subset of the BRATS 2021 MGMT methylation dataset containing both MGMT class labels and segmentation masks was used.

Summary: Gene and genome duplications are major evolutionary forces that shape the diversity and complexity of life. However, different duplication modes have distinct impacts on gene function, expression, and regulation. Existing tools for identifying and classifying duplicated genes are either outdated or not user-friendly.

Six novel phages belonging to the family were isolated using as a host. Phages MuffinTheCat, Badulia, DesireeRose, Bee17, SCoupsA, and LuzDeMundo were purified from environmental samples by students participating in the Science Education Alliance Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science (SEA-PHAGES) program at Alliance University, New York. The phages have linear dsDNA genomes 15,438-15,636 bp with 112-120 bp inverted terminal repeats.

Bombyx mori bidensovirus (BmBDV), a significant pathogen in the sericulture industry, holds a unique taxonomic position due to its distinct segmented single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) genome and the presence of a self-encoding DNA polymerase. However, the functions of viral non-structural proteins, such as NS2, remain unknown. This protein is hypothesized to play a role in viral replication and pathogenesis.
