Published: June 2000

The infrared, Raman and 57Fe-Mössbauer spectra of FeTbGe2O7 were recorded and analyzed on the basis of its crystallographic data. For comparative purposes, similar measurements were also performed with FeYGe2O7 and with other isostructural compounds containing different lanthanide cations.

A methodology is proposed, which addresses the caveat that line-of-sight emission spectroscopy presents in that it cannot provide spatially resolved temperature measurements in non-homogeneous temperature fields. The aim of this research is to explore the use of data-driven models in measuring temperature distributions in a spatially resolved manner using emission spectroscopy data. Two categories of data-driven methods are analyzed: (i) Feature engineering and classical machine learning algorithms, and (ii) end-to-end convolutional neural networks (CNN).

The ligninolytic catalytic network reveals the importance of auxiliary enzymes in lignin biocatalysts.

Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A

Frontiers Science Center for Synthetic Biology and Key Laboratory of Systems Bioengineering (Ministry of Education), School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Tianjin University, Tianjin 300072, People's Republic of China.

Lignin degradation by biocatalysts is a key strategy to develop a plant-based sustainable carbon economy and thus alleviate global climate change. This process involves synergy between ligninases and auxiliary enzymes. However, auxiliary enzymes within secretomes, which are composed of thousands of enzymes, remain enigmatic, although several ligninolytic enzymes have been well characterized.

Increasing the Orthogonality of 4-Pyridiniophenols: An NMR Study of Their Solvatomagnetism.

Departamento de Química Orgánica y Fisicoquímica, Facultad de Ciencias Químicas y Farmacéuticas, Universidad de Chile, Santiago, Chile.

The H- and C-NMR spectra of three substituted N-(4-hydroxyphenyl)pyridinium perchlorates, precursors of solvatochromic 4-pyridiniophenolate betaines, were recorded in deuterated acetone, dimethylsulfoxide, and acetonitrile, and their spectral behavior in these solvents was analyzed as evidence of the solute-solvent interactions present in solution. The effect of the increasing orthogonality between the phenolic and pyridinium fragments was clearly evident from the obtained spectra, thus shedding light on the ground-state structures of their deprotonated solvatochromic derivatives and their interactions with the solvent.

Rationale: Teaching mass spectrometry essentials is usually connected with one of the basic courses for undergrads. Thus, specific previous knowledge is required from students. However, the necessity of teaching mass spectrometry essentials to students of different academic specializations and multidisciplinary groups can arise in every academic group.

(Z)-3-butylamino-4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)but-2-en-1-one (1), a new β-aminoenone, has been investigated in terms of its intra- and intermolecular interactions. Vibrational, electronic and NMR spectroscopies were used for the characterization, while X-ray diffraction methods afforded the determination of the crystal structure. The compound is arranged in the crystal lattice as centre-symmetric H-bonded dimeric aggregates (C2/c monoclinic space group).
