TERT de novo mutation-associated dyskeratosis congenita and porto-sinusoidal vascular disease: a case report.

J Med Case Rep

January 2025

Department of Hepatic Biliary Pancreatic Medicine, First Hospital of Jilin University, 1 Xinmin Avenue, Changchun, 130021, China.

Background: Dyskeratosis congenita is a rare genetic disease due to telomere biology disorder and characterized by heterogeneous clinical manifestations and severe complications. "Porto-sinusoidal vascular disease" has been recently proposed, according to new diagnostic criteria, to replace the term "idiopathic non-cirrhotic portal hypertension." TERT plays an important role in telomeric DNA repair and replication.

Background: Disturbances in calcium and phosphorus homeostasis resulting from chronic kidney disease (CKD) may lead to atherosclerotic changes in blood vessels, potentially altering bone marrow perfusion. Our study aimed to investigate vertebral bone marrow perfusion using dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) MRI with a pharmacokinetic model. We also measured possible changes in water and fat content and bony trabeculae using T2* quantification, MR spectroscopy (MRS), and microcomputed tomography (μCT).

Introduction: Microcirculatory alterations are predictive of poor outcomes in patients with shock and after cardiac arrest in animal models. However, microcirculatory alterations during human cardiac arrest have not yet been studied.

Methods: We prospectively included adult patients receiving resuscitation after witnessed out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

Astragaloside IV can mitigate heat stress-induced tissue damage through modulation of the Keap1-Nrf2 signaling pathway in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella).

Fish Shellfish Immunol

February 2025

Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Animal Molecular Design and Precise Breeding, School of Animal Science and Technology, Foshan University, Foshan, Guangdong, 528225, China. Electronic address:

This study investigated the potential protective effect of AS-IV against heat stress-induced tissue damage in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella). Grass carp were injected intraperitoneally with 0, 2, 4, and 8 mg/kg of AS-IV for three consecutive days, and then subjected to heat stress (35 ± 0.5 °C); thereafter, histopathological analyses of the liver and spleen were performed at 0, 6, 24, and 48 h, respectively.

Whilst the world sees the tremendous growth of mobile phone technology, radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation (RF-EMR) induced possible health effects have emerged as a topic of recent day debate. The current study is designed to test the hypothesis that chronic 900 MHz radiation exposure would potentially dysregulate the stress response system (HPA axis) in vivo, via, its non-thermal mechanisms, leading to alterations in the microarchitecture of the adrenal gland, vulnerable brain regions such as the hippocampus which may results in altered behaviours in rats. Male albino Wistar rats aged four weeks, weighing 50-60 g were subjected to 900 MHz radiation from a mobile phone for four weeks at a rate of one hour per day.
