Benign prostatic hyperplasia is a prevalent condition leading to male lower urinary tract symptoms (mLUTS), particularly in aging populations. Current management strategies-spanning watchful waiting, pharmaceutical therapy, and surgical interventions such as transurethral resection of the prostate-face significant limitations, including side effects, low adherence, and patient hesitancy toward invasive treatments. First-line interventional therapy (FIT) emerges as a novel paradigm bridging the gap between medications and surgery.

This case study explores the effectiveness of autologous cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cell-based immunotherapy in a 49-year-old male patient with inoperable stage IIIb cholangiocarcinoma, characterized by high levels of the sodium-dependent vitamin C transporter-2 (SVCT2) in immune cells. Despite an initial lack of tumor reduction following chemotherapy, the patient showed a significant decrease in tumor markers and stabilization of the tumor after undergoing radiation and proton therapy. Subsequently, CIK cell therapy, combined with high-dose vitamin C, was administered 52 times over 6 years.

Freshwater quality, and the impacts of farming practice on drinking water supplies, are of concern in many countries and time-limited catchment management interventions are commonly used to improve water quality. However, ending such schemes may result in practice reversion. This study adopts an interdisciplinary approach combining evidence from water quality monitoring data with a behavioural study of farmers to explore changes in land use practice with reference to the pesticide MCPA (2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid) following a catchment-based management scheme delivered in the cross-border Derg catchment in Northern Ireland/Ireland between 2018 and 2021.

Lymphangioma causing pain during pregnancy is not widely reported, but surgical treatment was performed in each of the reported cases. In our patient, lesions arose in the retroperitoneal cavity and caused intense pain from 17 weeks of gestation. However, surgical treatment was considered difficult because of the location of the lesion.
