After taking both conventional oral rizatriptan tablets and oral disintegrating rizatriptan tablets in the treatment of migraine with or without aura, patients were permitted to select their formulation preference. All adult patients who had requested continuation of rizatriptan during a 6-month period were included in the study. Of the 367 patients studied, 188 selected the oral disintegrating tablet, while 179 preferred the conventional tablet. Although individual patients had strong preferences for one preparation over the other, no group preference was found.

The advent of the triptans revolutionized acute migraine treatment. The older migraine-specific drugs, the ergot alkaloids (ergotamine and dihydroergotamine), also relieve migraine attacks through agonism at the 5-HT and 5-HT receptors, but the triptans have much greater specificity for these receptors. Unlike the ergot alkaloids, the triptans do not activate many other receptor types, and therefore are much better tolerated.

A novel and first electrochemical biosensor based on Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) as a biological component to measure an antimigraine drug, rizatriptan benzoate (RZB) for patients under treatment in biological samples was developed. A carbon paste electrode (CPE) was modified by calf thymus (CT) double-stranded (ds)-DNA, nickel ferrite magnetic nanoparticles (NiFeONPs), and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of horizontal penetration needling combined with rizatriptan monobenzoate tablets, simple horizontal penetration needling and simple rizatriptan monobenzoate tablets for migraine without aura in acute stage.
Methods: A total of 99 patients with migraine without aura in acute stage were randomized into an acupuncture plus medication group, an acupuncture group and a western medication group, 33 cases in each one. In the acupuncture group, horizontal penetration needling was applied once at Hanyan (GB 4) to Xuanli(GB 6), Shenting (GV 24) to Yintang (GV 29), Baihui (GV 20) to Qianding (GV 21), etc.
