A method has been developed to permit the calculation of dwell times for endobronchial high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy treatment using two catheters, without using a dedicated treatment planning system. Worksheets were developed to guide a user through manual calculations, and a computer program was written to automate the process. This empirical algorithm produces dose distributions that are clinically safe and reasonable. The total dwell times match those predicted by individually optimized distributions to within a few percent. The method has been used most frequently as a quality assurance check on optimized plans produced by a commercial treatment planning system, but it can serve as a back-up method should the commercial system fail. Polymer blending is an interesting strategy to broaden the combination of properties available for a variety of applications. To understand the behaviour of the new materials obtained as well as the influence of the fabrication parameters used, methods to analyse the distribution of polymers in the blend with resolution below the micrometer are required. In this work, we demonstrate the capability of focused ion beam (FIB) tomography to provide 3D information of the polymer distribution in objects obtained by blending acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate (ASA) with polycarbonate (PC) (50 wt%), fabricated by Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) and by Injection Moulding (IM).

Buprenorphine is an agonist at the mu opioid receptor (MOR) and antagonist at the kappa (KOR) and delta (DOR) receptors and a nociceptin receptor (NOR) ligand. Buprenorphine has a relatively low intrinsic efficacy for G-proteins and a long brain and MOR dwell time. Buprenorphine ceiling on respiratory depression has theoretically been related multiple factors such as low intrinsic efficacy at MOR, binding to six-transmembrane MOR and interactions in MOR/NOR heterodimers.

Importance: Pediatric peripheral intravenous catheter (PIVC) insertion can be difficult and time-consuming, frequently requiring multiple insertion attempts and often resulting in increased anxiety, distress, and treatment avoidance among children and their families. Ultrasound-guided PIVC insertion is a superior alternative to standard technique (palpation and visualization) in high-risk patients.
Objective: To compare first-time insertion success of PIVCs inserted with ultrasound guidance compared with standard technique (palpation and visualization) across all risk categories in the general pediatric hospital population.

Background: In general, it is relatively easy to remove peripherally inserted central venous catheter (PICC) by gentle traction without any complications. However, the removal of PICC can be challenging occasionally. If the standard interventions fail to remove the catheter, there are no clear recommendations about what to do.

Background: The spatial resolution of new, photon counting detector (PCD) CT scanners is limited by the size of the focal spot. Smaller, brighter focal spots would melt the tungsten focal track of a conventional X-ray source.
Purpose: To propose focal spot multiplexing (FSM), an architecture to improve the power of small focal spots and thereby enable higher resolution clinical PCD CT.
