FAP-targeted PET/CT imaging in patients with breast cancer from a prospective bi-center study: insights into diagnosis and clinic management.

Eur J Nucl Med Mol Imaging

January 2025

Department of Nuclear Medicine and Minnan PET Center, Xiamen Key Laboratory of Radiopharmaceuticals, The First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University, School of Medicine, Xiamen University, Xiamen, China.

Purpose: To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy and clinical impact of fibroblast activation protein (FAP)-targeted PET/CT imaging in primary and metastatic breast cancer and compare the results with those of standard-of-care imaging (SCI) and [F]FDG PET/CT.

Methods: We prospectively analyzed patients with diagnosed or suspected breast cancer who underwent concomitant FAP-targeted PET/CT (radiotracers including either [Ga]Ga-FAPI-46 or [F]FAPI-42) and [F]FDG PET/CT scans from June 2020 to January 2024 at two medical centers. Breast ultrasound (US) imaging was performed in all treatment-naïve patients as SCI.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative condition with rising prevalence due to the aging global population. Existing methods for diagnosing AD are struggling to detect the condition in its earliest and most treatable stages. One early indicator of AD is a substantial decrease in the brain's glucose metabolism.

Brown adipose tissue is associated with reduced weight loss and risk of cancer cachexia: A retrospective cohort study.

Clin Nutr

Background & Aims: Brown adipose tissue (BAT) has been mainly investigated as a potential target against cardiometabolic disease, but it has also been linked to cancer-related outcomes. Although preclinical data support that BAT and the thermogenic adipocytes in white adipose tissue may play an adverse role in the pathogenesis of cancer cachexia, results from studies in patients have reported inconsistent results. The purpose of this study was to examine the interrelationship between presence of detectable BAT, changes in body weight, and cachexia in patients with cancer.

Purpose: This meta-analysis aims to compare the diagnostic efficacy of [F]FDG PET/CT and [F]FDG PET/MRI in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Methods: An extensive literature search was conducted throughout the PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases for works accessible through September 2024. We included studies assessed the diagnostic efficacy of [F]FDG PET/CT and [F]FDG PET/MRI in NSCLC.

To establish and validate a nomogram based on clinical characteristics and metabolic parameters derived from F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography and computed tomography (F-FDG PET/CT) for prediction of high-grade patterns (HGP) in invasive lung adenocarcinoma. The clinical and PET/CT image data of 311 patients who were confirmed invasive lung adenocarcinoma and underwent pre-treatment F-FDG PET/CT scan in Beijing Hospital between October 2017 and March 2022 were retrospectively collected. The enrolled patients were divided into HGP group (196 patients) and non-HGP group (115 patients) according to the presence and absence of HGP.
