Background And Purpose: Previous studies used sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) to characterize the modifications to lens proteins during opacification in the selenite model for cataract. To analyze the protein modifications in more detail, two dimensional electrophoresis (2 DE), which is more sensitive than 1 D electrophoresis, was used.
Results: The results of 2 DE demonstrated rapid changes in cytoskeletal proteins including spectrin and vimentin at the earliest stages of opacification.
Conclusion: The results suggested that the mechanism of opacification might involve changes in cytoskeletal proteins during the earliest stages of cataract formation.

Background: During mammalian spermatogenesis, the cytoskeleton system plays a significant role in morphological changes. Male infertility such as non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA) might be explained by studies of the cytoskeletal system during spermatogenesis.
Methods: The cytoskeleton, scaffold, and actin-binding genes were analyzed by microarray and bioinformatics (771 spermatogenic cellsgenes and 774 Sertoli cell genes).

Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are a crucial component in the tumor microenvironment (TME) of peritoneal metastasis (PM), where they contribute to tumor progression and metastasis via secretion of interleukin-6 (IL-6). Here, we investigated the role of IL-6 in PM of gastric cancer (GC) and assessed whether anti-IL-6 receptor antibody (anti-IL-6R Ab) could inhibit PM of GC. We conducted immunohistochemical analysis of IL-6 and α-smooth muscle (α-SMA) expressions in clinical samples of GC and PM, and investigated the interactions between CAFs and GC cells in vitro.

Constitutive mitochondrial dynamics ensure quality control and metabolic fitness of cells, and their dysregulation has been implicated in various human diseases. The large GTPase Dynamin-related protein 1 (Drp1) is intimately involved in mediating constitutive mitochondrial fission and has been implicated in mitochondrial cell death pathways. During ferroptosis, a recently identified type of regulated necrosis driven by excessive lipid peroxidation, mitochondrial fragmentation has been observed.

To investigate the clinicopathological and genetic features of infantile rhabdomyofibrosarcoma (IRFS) with EGFR kinase domain duplication (EGFR-KDD). The clinical, morphological and immunohistochemical features of three IRFS with EGFR-KDD diagnosed from January 2022 to January 2024 at Department of Pathology, Foshan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Foshan, China were retrospectively analyzed using PCR or next generation sequencing technique; and related literature was reviewed. There were 1 male and 2 females, aged at presentation ranging from 1 to 4 years.
