Comparing the long-term effect of extracorporeal shockwave therapy and therapeutic ultrasound in treating trigger finger: A prospective cohort study.

Saudi Med J

January 2025

From the Physiotherapy Department (R. Alfaifi, Juraybi, Alrashed, Alghidani) Al-Rass General Hospital, Al-Rass; from the Neurosurgery Department (H. Alfaifi), Abha Maternity and Child Hospital, Abha, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Objectives: To investigate the long-term effects of Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) and ultrasound (US) in treating the trigger finger. Trigger finger, also known as stenosing tenosynovitis, is a common type of tenosynovitis affecting the flexor sheath of any finger. Extracorporeal shockwave therapy and therapeutic US are conservative treatments that use waves of varied frequency to target damaged regions and improve function.

Mulberry silk (Bombyx mori) and eri silk (Samia/Philosamia ricini) are widely used silks. Eri silk is a wild silk that contains an arginine-glycine-aspartic acid tripeptide sequence within its structure, making it a potential and sustainable biomaterial. However, its poor solubility using conventional methods has resulted in limited research compared with that of mulberry silk fibroin.

Ultrasound radiomics model based on grayscale transrectal ultrasound-guided biopsy for diagnosing prostate cancer and predicting distant metastasis.

Int Urol Nephrol

January 2025

Department of Ultrasound, The First College of Clinical Medical Science, China Three Gorges University, Yichang Central People's Hospital, No. 2 Jiefang Road, Xiling District, Yichang, Hubei, China.

Objective: A prostate ultrasound (US) imaging omics model was established to assess its effectiveness in diagnosing prostate cancer (PCa), predicting Gleason score (GS), and determining the likelihood of distant metastasis.

Methods: US images of patients with prostate pathology confirmed by biopsy or surgery at our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. Regions of interest (ROI) segmentation, feature extraction, feature screening, and the construction and training of the radiomics model were performed.

Background: Optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) is a promising noninvasive parameter for intracranial pressure (ICP) assessment. However, in the setting of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH), several previous studies have reported no association between ultrasonically measured ONSD and ICP. In this study, we evaluate ONSD in patients with aSAH using a novel method of automated real-time ultrasonographic measurements and explore whether factors such as having undergone surgery affects its association to ICP.

Assessment of Corrosion and Cavitation Resistance of Laser Remelted GX40CrNiSi25-20 Cast Stainless Steel.

Materials (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Materials and Fabrication Engineering, Politehnica University Timisoara, Bulevardul Mihai Viteazul nr.1, 300222 Timișoara, Romania.

This paper explores the enhancement of cavitation and corrosion resistance in cast stainless steel through laser beam surface remelting. The influence of laser treatment on material properties was assessed by analyzing the microstructure using optical microscopy, electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. Cavitation erosion was evaluated in tap water using an ultrasonic vibration setup, following ASTM G32-2016 standards.
