Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of raloxifene on the uterine responses to both estradiol and the environmental estrogens 1,1,1-trichloro-2, 2-bis(p-chlorophenyl)ethane and methoxychlor in immature mice.

Study Design: Immature female mice received the following compounds alone or in combination: sesame oil (control), 17beta-estradiol 1 mg/kg body weight, tamoxifen 1 mg/kg body weight, raloxifene 5 mg/kg body weight, 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis(p-chlorophenyl)ethane 10 mg/kg body weight, and methoxychlor 10 mg/kg body weight. The animals were treated subcutaneously once a day for 5 consecutive days with the compound or compounds of interest in 0.1 mL sesame oil. Approximately 24 hours after the final treatment the animals were killed and the uteri were excised, stripped of remaining fat and mesentery, and weighed. Groups were analyzed with analysis of variance.

Results: Estradiol increased the mean (+/-SE) weight from 20 +/- 6.4 mg (as measured in the control group) to 77 +/- 6.2 mg. Tamoxifen increased uterine weight to 60 +/- 6.2 mg; however, raloxifene had no effect on uterine weight. Both 1,1,1-trichloro-2, 2-bis(p-chlorophenyl)ethane and methoxychlor increased uterine weight significantly, to 82 +/- 2.4 mg and 35 +/- 6.0 mg respectively. When raloxifene was coadministered with 17beta-estradiol it did not block the increase in uterine weight; however, when raloxifene was coadministered with 1,1,1-trichloro-2, 2-bis(p-chlorophenyl)ethane or methoxychlor, it completely blocked the uterine weight gain induced by either xenoestrogen.

Conclusion: Raloxifene blocked the xenoestrogens 1,1,1-trichloro-2, 2-bis(p-chlorophenyl)ethane and methoxychlor but did not block 17beta-estradiol in the mouse model described. These results suggest that the xenoestrogens exert their estrogenic activities through a different site on the estrogen receptor or through a different mechanism than 17beta-estradiol.

To investigate the correlation between uterine volume and intrauterine adhesion (IUA). From June 2018 to November 2019, totally 7 007 patients who underwent hysteroscopy in outpatient operating rooms of Gynecological Minimally Invasive Center, Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital were retrospectively analyzed Patients of reproductive age with IUA without uterine fibroids and adenomyosis were selected as IUA group, and patients of reproductive age without uterine fibroids and adenomyosis without IUA during the same period were selected as the control group. The propensity score matching (PSM) method was used to perform 1∶1 matching for the two groups of patients, matching variables included age, height, weight, body mass index (BMI), gravidity, parity, and number of abortion curettage.

Objective: Endometriosis involves the growth of endometrium-like cells outside the uterus, affecting reproductive-aged women. Symptoms such as dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain, and infertility significantly impair quality of life. Among therapeutic options, progestogens have demonstrated efficacy in managing pain and reducing recurrence rates.

Hypothyroidism causes ovarian dysfunction and infertility in women and animals and impairs the hypothalamic expression of kisspeptin (Kp). However, kisspeptin is also expressed in the genital system, and the lack of the Kp receptor (Kiss1r) in the uterus is linked to reduced implantation rates. This study investigated the impact of hypothyroidism on the uterine expression of Kp and Kiss1r in female rats throughout the estrous cycle and the associated changes in uterine activity modulators.

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, College of Medicine, Qassim University, Buraydah 52571, Saudi Arabia.

: The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) define abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) as "bleeding from the uterus that is abnormal in regularity, volume, frequency, or duration and occurs in the absence of pregnancy". The impact of AUB on the physical and psychosocial well-being of adolescent girls can be significant. In this study, we aim to investigate the menstrual cycle characteristics in adolescent Sudanese schoolgirls and the prevalence of abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) and its associated factors.
