The free arterialized cephalic venous flap is a good option for intraoral reconstructions. It offers thin, pliable skin as a one-stage transfer without sacrifice of a major artery. The radial dominant hand poses a problem, which can be surmounted by this flap.

Introduction: The reverse sural flap (RSF) is a random-type, pedicled flap based on sural artery perforators indicated for traumatic lower-extremity wounds. The RSF has demonstrated comparable results to free flap placement in the adult population for reconstruction of distal third defects, but few reports describe its application and outcomes in the pediatric population.
Methods: We investigated RSF application in pediatric patients (<18 years of age) through systematic review and meta-analysis.

Severe vitamin D (vitD) deficiency is a very common condition in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and it is predictor of poor prognosis. There is emerging evidence suggesting a connection between the insufficient response to phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors (PDE5i) and vitD deficiency in patients with PAH. In the present translational study, vitD deficiency was induced in Wistar rats by exposure to vitD free diet for 5 weeks and followed by Su5416 administration and hypoxia (10%) for 3 weeks, a standard experimental model of PAH.

Importance: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common, chronic, cardiac arrythmia in older US adults. It is not known whether AF is independently associated with increased risk of retinal stroke (central retinal artery occlusion), a subtype of ischemic stroke that causes severely disabling visual loss in most cases and is a harbinger of further vascular events.
Objective: To determine whether there is an association between AF and retinal stroke.

Background/objective: The treatment strategy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with Vp4 (main trunk) portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT) remains controversial due to the dismal prognosis. We aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) plus lenvatinib and tislelizumab in these patients.
Methods: This multicenter retrospective study included treatment-naive HCC patients with Vp4 PVTT from 2017 to 2022.

Background: Plasma neurofilament light (NfL) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) are markers of axonal and astroglial injury, respectively. Both markers have been proposed as predictive biomarkers of cerebral small vessel disease, with elevated levels indicating higher burden of white matter hyperintensities, lacunar infarcts and cerebral microbleeds. However, to date, no study has examined whether NfL and GFAP levels are associated with dynamic markers of small vessel damage such as cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR)-the ability of cerebral blood vessels to regulate cerebral blood flow (CBF) in response to vasodilatory or vasoconstrictive stimuli.
