The gene encoding the insulin-like growth-factor type-2 receptor (Igf2r) is maternally expressed and imprinted. A CpG island in Igf2r intron 2 that carries a maternal-specific methylation imprint was shown in a transgenic model to be essential for Igf2r imprinting and for the production of an antisense RNA from the paternal allele. We report here that the endogenous region2 is the promoter for this antisense RNA (named Air, for antisense Igf2r RNA) and that the 3' end lies 107,796 bp distant in an intron of the flanking, but non-imprinted, gene Mas1.

Diagnostic Value of Serum miR-499a-5p in Chinese Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

J Mol Neurosci

January 2025

Department II of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Dongzhimen Hospital Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, No. 116, Cuiping West Road, Tongzhou District, Beijing, 101121, China.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the expression of miR-499a-5p in children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and its value in early diagnosis of ASD. This is a retrospective case-control study that included 40 children with ASD as a case group and 43 healthy children as a control group. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed on all subjects, and the children were scored with childhood autism rating scale (CARS) and autism behavior checklist (ABC).

Chemotherapy resistance (CR) represents one of the most important barriers to effective oncological therapy and often leads to ineffective intervention and unfavorable clinical prognosis. Emerging studies have emphasized the vital significance of extracellular RNA (exRNA) in influencing CR. This thorough assessment intends to explore the multifaceted contributions of exRNA, such as exosomal RNA, microRNAs, long non-coding RNAs, and circular RNAs, to CR in cancer.

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common bone disorders and has a serious impact on the quality of life of patients. LncRNA-HCP5 (HCP5) is downregulated in OA tissues. However, the latent function and regulatory mechanisms of HCP5 in OA are unclear.

Division of Genomic Resources, ICAR-National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources, Bengaluru, India.

RNA interference (RNAi) technology is widely used in gene functional studies and has been shown to be a promising next generation alternative for insect pest management. To understand the efficiency of RNAi machinery in Leucinodes orbonalis (L. orbonalis) Guenee, a destructive pest of eggplant, core RNAi pathway genes Argonaute-2, Dicer-2, Loquacious, and Sid-1 were mined from the transcriptome and characterized.

Introduction: Extracellular vesicles (EVs) can potently inhibit inflammation yet there is a lack of understanding about the impact of donor characteristics on the efficacy of EVs. The goal of this study was to determine whether the sex and age of donor platelet-derived EVs (PEV) affected their ability to inhibit viral myocarditis.

Methods: PEV, isolated from men and women of all ages, was compared to PEV obtained from women under 50 years of age, which we termed premenopausal PEV (pmPEV).
