The chiral separations of drug substances and underivatized amino acids were demonstrated in this study through the use of hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC). The polar character of the model compounds presented challenges for their analysis by traditional modes of chromatography, but through the employment of multimodal chromatography utilizing the HILIC mechanism and cyclodextrin- or teicoplanin-derivatized stationary phases, effective resolution was achieved. The analytes lacked sufficient ultraviolet chromophores, requiring their determination by evaporative light scattering detection. HILIC was demonstrated to represent a novel technique for the facilitation of chiral chromatography by providing an environment of solubility and retention that could not be achieved through the use of the traditional methods of reversed-phase, normal-phase, or polar organic mode.

Mesoporous materials have garnered significant interest because of their porous structure, large surface area and ease of surface functionalization to incorporate the functional groups of choice. Herein, chiral mesoporous silica nanoparticles (CMSNPs) were prepared using quaternary amino silane as the template, tetramethyl orthosilicate as the silica source and proline and cellulose as chiral selector. The developed CMSNPs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, BET surface area analysis and BJH pore size/volume analysis.

Chirality plays a crucial role in the pharmacological activity of triazoles, a key scaffold in antifungal agents and various therapeutic applications. This study focuses on optimizing the enantiomeric resolution of chiral triazoles using supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) and 10 different columns, either immobilized or coated, chlorinated or nonchlorinated, cellulose or amylose-based chiral stationary phases (CSPs). Four novel triazoles and two marketed ones (tebuconazole and hexaconazole) were separated to determine optimal resolution conditions.

Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, National University of Singapore, 4 Engineering Drive 4, Singapore 117585, Singapore.

Solar-driven photocatalytic technology holds significant potential for addressing energy crisis and mitigating global warming, yet is limited by light absorption, charge separation, and surface reaction kinetics. The past several years has witnessed remarkable progress in optimizing photocatalysis electron spin control. This approach enhances light absorption through energy band tuning, promotes charge separation by spin polarization, and improves surface reaction kinetics strengthening surface interaction and increasing product selectivity.

Assembling chiral coordination polymers into nano/microflower structures may improve their performance in applications such as chiral recognition and separation. In this study, we chose a chiral metal phosphonate system, , In(NO)/-, -pempH [pempH = (1-phenylethylamino)methylphosphonic acid], and carried out systematic work on the self-assembly of this system in different alcohol/HO mixed solvents under solvothermal conditions. Enantiomeric compounds -, -[In(pempH)(μ-OH)(HO)](NO) (R-, S-1) were obtained showing dense layered structures, but their morphologies varied with alcohol solvent.

In vitro multi-enzyme synthesis pathways harness the core elements of cellular synthesis while simplifying the complexities of cellular processes, facilitating the production of high-value chemicals. However, these in vitro synthesis processes often operate like a "black box," with limited monitoring of each reaction step, leading to a low substrate conversion efficiency. In this study, we present an intelligent multi-enzyme molecular machine(iMEMM) as a model system for achieving the deracemization of D, L-phosphinothricin (D, L-PPT).
