Sexual partner age preferences of homosexual and heterosexual men and women.

Arch Sex Behav

Department of Psychology, Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

Published: February 2000

The sexual age preferences of 192 adults (equal groups of heterosexual men, heterosexual women, homosexual men, and homosexual women) were examined. Participants rated the sexual attractiveness of pictures of 15 male and 15 female faces arranged into five apparent average age categories ranging from 18 to 60 years. It was predicted that homosexual and heterosexual men would prefer younger partners of their preferred sex than would homosexual and heterosexual women and that age preference would not vary with participant age. Both predictions were supported, although homosexual women preferred older partners than expected. Results suggest that age and sex preferences develop independently.

Many new circulating recombinant forms (CRFs) and unique recombinant forms (URFs) of human immunodeficiency virus type-1 (HIV-1) have been discovered in populations with multiple circulating HIV-1 genotypes. In this study, we report two novel URFs derived from two HIV-1-positive individuals in Hebei, China, who were infected through homosexual (BDD142) and heterosexual (BDD154) contact. Phylogenetic and recombinant analyses of the two NFLG revealed that they are second-generation recombinant strains originating from the CRF01_AE cluster 4/B and CRF01_AE cluster 5/B strains.

Psychology Department, Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters at Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo, Ribeirão Preto-SP, Brazil.

Although breast, cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancers account for more than 43% of new cases in 2023 in Brazilian women, no national studies were found on the incidence, risk factors, and prevention of breast and gynecological neoplasms in lesbian women, causing the health needs of non-heterosexual women to go unnoticed by professionals. This study aims to identify and analyze the search for healthcare related to the prevention of breast/gynecological cancer among Brazilian lesbian cisgender women who have not had the disease. Seven lesbian women participated in this qualitative study.

In the Netherlands, at-home HIV tests became commercially available around 2016, but data on user experiences are limited. This study aimed to explore characteristics of users and their experiences with HIVSS/ST.
