The utilization of silicomanganese slag (SMS) for the partial substitution of cement holds significant importance in handling environmental risks and achieving the harmless and resourceful utilization of industrial solid wastes. Nevertheless, an in-depth analysis of the leaching behaviors of heavy metals and the solidification/stabilization mechanisms in SMS and cementitious materials is still lacking. In this study, we adopted the toxicity characteristic leaching procedure and horizontal vibration method to simulate the natural leaching environment, thereby exploring the leaching risks related to heavy metals in the aforementioned materials.

3D mixed perovskites have achieved substantial success in boosting solar cell efficiency, but the complicated perovskite crystal formation pathway remains mysterious. Here we present detailed crystallization kinetics of mixed perovskites FAMAPb(IBr), where FA is formamidinium and MA is methylammonium, with the addition of Cs to form a triple cation perovskite (3-CAT), in a comparison with the perovskite building block MAPbI (MAPI) via static grazing-incidence wide-angle X-ray scattering (GIWAXS) and micro-diffraction measurements. Spin-coated films produced α-perovskite peaks with no PbI or δ-intermediate phases, which was a promising result for the 3-CAT perovskite from micro-diffraction measurements.

Purpose: The postoperative occurrence of corneal guttae (CG) in patients after Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) can lead to a significant reduction in visual acuity (VA) with the subsequent need for repeat DMEK. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze the prevalence and clinical significance of CG in transplanted corneas after DMEK.

Methods: The prevalence and progression of CG after DMEK of 1657 patients were examined using endothelial specular microscopy images.

Department of Botany and Zoology, Faculty of Science, Masaryk University, Brno, Czechia. E-mail: radovan. (Coufal) ; (Horsáková); (Peterka); (Horsák).

Our understanding of species distribution and ecology is critical to properly assess their conservation status. , , and have the centre of their current distribution in northern Europe, where their occurrence is relatively frequent. However, to the south their occurrence is fragmented and restricted to sites of late glacial/early Holocene origin.

The implementation of sand barriers measures constitutes a crucial element in desertification control, providing a solid theoretical foundation for the future application and pretreatment of sand barriers in production practices. To address the specific damage types predominant in desert environments, we executed simulations of ultraviolet irradiation and rainfall phenomena on mechanical sand barriers in sandy areas and also inspected the variations in chemical properties during accelerated aging processes. The findings unequivocally demonstrate that: (1) The synergistic impact of ultraviolet irradiation and water accelerated the deformation and fracturing of the sand barriers, thereby causing a partial degradation of its chemical properties and conspicuous lignin oxidation; (2) The fissure of the sand barrier deepened, resulting in structural alterations.
