Objective: The aim of the article is the presentation of a new, mini-invasive method for the treatment of urethral incompetence in women--TVT (tension-free vaginal tape).
Design And Setting: The design was a prospective comparison of the first 10 patients at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the 1st Medical Faculty and General Faculty Hospital in Prague where urethral incompetence = genuine stress incontinence regardless of their history was diagnosed consecutively.
Methods: We present the technique of the operation, examination procedure including the application of dynamic magnetic resonance before and after operation at rest and under Valsalva, the subjective and objective outcome in the analyzed group. We compare also the parameters of urethrovesical junction mobility in the MR image and discuss their importance for the new continence mechanism in the TVT method.
Results: All patients are 10-18 months after the operation continent. The functional morphology of the lower urinary tract and of the pelvic floor on the MR image after TVT did not reveal any relevant changes in bladder neck dynamic mobility.
Conclusion: The experience of other authors concerning possible complications, postoperative care and results are evaluated; they are without exception positive.

Introduction: Urinary incontinence (UI) consists of involuntary leakage of urine during the storage phase of urination.
Methods: An anonymous survey was given to Spanish and Italian veterinarians about canine UI treated cases, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and professional interest.
Results And Discussion: Most veterinarians treated ≤3 cases/quarter, resulting in the percentage of incontinence males being lower than that of females (1-4% vs 0-24%).

Purpose: This study describes the management of urinary incontinence (UI) in eight girls with congenital pouch colon (CPC) associated with anorectal malformation (ARM).
Methods: From 2013 to 2015, six girls with CPC and UI underwent bladder neck reconstruction (BNR). Four girls had complete UI (CUI) and two girls partial UI (PUI).

Urinary incontinence due to urethral sphincter mechanism incompetence (USMI) affects up to 20% of bitches that undergo spaying surgery. Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant whose urinary retention is a reported side effect. This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of amitriptyline when compared to estriol orally.

During cloacal reconstruction, we consider both common channel (CC) and urethral length when deciding between total urogenital mobilization (TUM) and a urogenital separation (UGS). Our concern about TUM in the case of a short urethra is resultant bladder neck incompetence, while conversion to UGS after completing the TUM dissection may result in urethral injury. Use of an interposition flap harvested from the ischiorectal fossa is another measure we use to prevent potential complications.

Purpose: To investigate the prevalence of bladder neck incompetence (BNI) and the anatomic differences between different types of urinary incontinence (UI) and overactive bladder (OAB) by transrectal sonography, and to investigate these differences among those with stress UI (SUI) or mixed UI (MUI) who exhibited de novo or persistent OAB symptoms following anti-incontinence surgery.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on a total of 184 patients with SUI, MUI, urge UI (UUI), or OAB dry who underwent transrectal ultrasound between 2017 and 2022. The presence of BNI and urethral incompetence assessed by transrectal ultrasound were recorded in all included patients, and recorded preoperatively and postoperatively among patients with SUI and MUI who underwent anti-incontinence surgery.
