Cardiogenic shock with bradycardia due to beta-blockers is well-documented; however, this condition in association with arotinolol is unreported. We present a case of cardiogenic shock resulting from delayed arotinolol clearance caused by bile duct obstruction. A man in his 60s presented to our hospital with jaundice.

Background: Abnormal antioxidant capacity in cancer cells is intimately linked to tumor aggressiveness. Modulating oxidative stress status and inhibiting ferroptosis represents a novel anticancer therapeutic strategy. STAM Binding Protein Like 1 (STAMBPL1), a deubiquitinase, is implicated in various malignancies, yet its function in inhibiting ferroptosis and therapeutic potential for cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) remains unexplored.

Hepatocyte hopping is the hepatocyte-to-sinusoid-to-hepatocyte shuttling that increases the efficiency of hepatic elimination of xenobiotics. This phenomenon is mediated efflux of hepatic metabolites by Mrp3 and reuptake by Oatp transporters in sequential hepatocytes until eventual biliary efflux by Mrp2. Sorafenib-glucuronide (SFB-G), the major metabolite of sorafenib (SFB), undergoes hepatocyte hopping, leading to efficient biliary elimination.

Mitochondria are the energy factory of cells and can be easily damaged by reactive oxygen species (ROS) because of the frequent occurrence of oxidative stress. Abnormality in mitophagy is often associated with many diseases including inflammation, cancer, and aging. While previously developed fluorescent probes mainly focus on detecting just ROS or mitophagy, quite rare studies have endeavored to comprehensively capture the entire mitophagic process, encompassing both the production of ROS and the induction of mitophagy.
