What is wrong with the peer review system? Is peer review sustainable? Useful? What other models exist? These are central yet contentious questions in today's academic discourse. This perspective critically discusses alternative models and revisions to the peer review system. The authors highlight possible changes to the peer review system, with the goal of fostering further dialog among the main stakeholders, including producers and consumers of scientific research.

With the development of genome sequencing technologies, the amount of data produced has greatly increased in the last two decades. The abundance of digital sequence information (DSI) has provided research opportunities, improved our understanding of the genome, and led to the discovery of new solutions in industry and medicine. It has also posed certain challenges, i.

Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) in pediatric patients is a common cause of isolated thrombocytopenia. Various pathophysiological mechanisms are implicated in ITP pathogenesis, including the production of autoantibodies against components of platelets (PLTs) by B-cells, the activation of the complement system, phagocytosis by macrophages mediated by Fcγ receptors, the dysregulation of T cells, and reduced bone marrow megakaryopoiesis. ITP is commonly manifested with skin and mucosal bleeding, and it is a diagnosis of exclusion.

Considering that fungi display a great morphological, ecological, metabolic, and phylogenetic diversity, their taxonomic identification is extremely important because it helps us establish important information about each species and its possible biochemical and ecological roles. Traditionally, the identification of fungi at the species level has been carried out with molecular tools such as DNA sequencing, but it still represents a huge challenge today due to the heterogeneity of the fungal kingdom, making the task of identification a complex and difficult process. Biotyping, a type of chemotaxonomy, has been developed in the field of the identification/differentiation and classification of micro-fungi through tools such as mass spectrometry (MS).

The early treatment of Osteonecrosis of Femoral Head (ONFH) remains a clinical challenge. Conventional Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cell (BMSC) injection methods often result in unsatisfactory outcomes due to mechanical cell damage, low cell survival and retention rates, inadequate cell matrix accumulation, and poor intercellular interaction. In this study, we employed a novel cell carrier material termed "3D Microscaffold" to deliver BMSCs, addressing these issues and enhancing the therapeutic effects of cell therapy for ONFH.
