Recombinant plasmid DNA constructs expressing truncated or full-length dengue-1 envelope (E) with or without the pre-membrane (prM) were tested for immunogenicity in mice, as candidate dengue DNA vaccines. Two plasmids, one expressing the N-terminal 80% E and the other expressing prM and full length E were immunogenic in intradermally inoculated mice. The vaccinated mice produced dengue-1 specific antibodies that were both neutralizing and long lasting. Data suggested that the plasmid expressing prM and full length E produced virus like particles in transfected cells, and is probably a better immunogen compared to that expressing 80% E.

Background: Medical tourism is a rapidly expanding multi-billion-dollar industry. Reduced costs, all-inclusive vacation packages that include cosmetic surgery, globalization, and affordable flight expenses have encouraged patients to seek aesthetic procedures in different countries. Cosmetic medical tourism is associated with high complication rates, such as severe infections, wound dehiscence, pain or discomfort, aesthetic dissatisfaction, and even death.

Background: Safety in one anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) is judged by outcomes, but it seems reasonable to utilize best practices for safety, whose performance can be evaluated and therefore improved. We aimed to test an artificial intelligence-based model in real world for the evaluation of adherence to best practices in OAGB.Please check and confirm that the authors and their respective affiliations have been correctly identified and amend if necessary.

Introduction: Reconstructing large bone defects for lower limb salvage in the pediatric population remains challenging due to complex oncological or septic issues, limited surgical options, and lengthy procedures prone to complications. The vascularized double-barreled fibula free flap is pivotal for reconstructing large bones. In this article, we report our experience with this technique in the surgical management of pediatric tibial bone defects.

Approximately half of critically ill adults experience intensive care unit acquired weakness (ICUAW). Patients who develop ICUAW may have negative outcomes, including longer duration of mechanical ventilation, greater length of stay, and worse mobility, physical functioning, quality of life, and mortality. Early physical rehabilitation interventions have potential for improving ICUAW; however, randomized trials show inconsistent findings on the efficacy of these interventions.

An approach combining enzymatic inhibition and untargeted metabolomics through molecular networking was employed to search for human recombinant full-length protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1 B) inhibitors from a collection of 66 mangrove-associated fungal taxa. This strategy prioritized two strains (IQ-1612, section , and IQ-1620, section ) for further studies. Chemical investigation of strain IQ-1612 resulted in the isolation of a new nonanolide derivative, roseoglobuloside A (1: ), along with two known metabolites (2: and 3: ), whereas strain IQ-1620 led to the isolation of four known naphtho-γ-pyrones and one known diketopiperazine (4: -8: ).
