Sweat testing in hypomelanosis of Ito: divergent results reflecting genetic heterogeneity.

Eur J Dermatol

Department of Dermatology, University Hospital Nijmegen, PO Box 9101, 6500 HB Nijmegen, The Netherlands.

Published: July 2000

Sweat testing using a modified version of the method described by Minor was performed in 5 children affected with hypomelanosis of Ito. In 4 cases the areas of hypopigmentation were arranged in patterns following the lines of Blaschko, whereas in one case a phylloid pattern was observed. In 4 cases the hypomelanotic areas were shown to be anhidrotic. In one case of hypomelanosis following Blaschko's lines, sweat testing was normal and did not reveal any functional difference between the normally pigmented and the hypopigmented areas. These results provide a clinical illustration of the fact that hypomelanosis of Ito is not an entity but constitutes a cutaneous manifestation of various states of mosaicism.

Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering, Lodz University of Technology, 18. Stefanowskiego Str., 90-924 Lodz, Poland.

Toxic materials are a threat in workplaces and the environment, as well as households. In them, gaseous substances are included, especially ones without any colour or fragrance, due to their non-detectability with the human senses. In this article, an attempt was made to find a solution for its detection in various conditions with the use of intelligent textiles.

The goal of this meta-analysis was to (i) identify any potential differences in the apparent and true digestibility, renal excretion, and retention between ponies and horses and (ii) examine the impact of work on these parameters. Additionally, the study aimed to (iii) evaluate the effects of water deficiency. This meta-analysis used data from 33 studies and plotted them in diagrams similar to the Lucas test against mineral intake.

Fully Inkjet-Printed Flexible Graphene-Prussian Blue Platform for Electrochemical Biosensing.

Biosensors (Basel)

January 2025

University of Zagreb, Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology, Trg Marka Marulića 19, 10000 Zagreb, Croatia.

Prussian Blue (PB) is commonly incorporated into screen-printed enzymatic devices since it enables the determination of the enzymatically produced hydrogen peroxide at low potentials. Inkjet printing is gaining popularity in the development of electrochemical sensors as a substitute for screen printing. This work presents a fully inkjet-printed graphene-Prussian Blue platform, which can be paired with oxidase enzymes to prepare a biosensor of choice.

Introduction: Prosthetic silicone liners improve comfort and skin protection and allow the use of total surface bearing (TSB) sockets, which provide enhanced proprioception and comfort. Unfortunately, silicone liners are cost-prohibitive in resource-limited environments (RLEs) where patellar tendon bearing (PTB) sockets with PE-lite liners remain standard, leading to patient discomfort and skin issues.

Objective: This study evaluates the benefits and durability of an affordable silicone liner locally manufactured in an RLE to promote TSB socket adoption, aiming to enhance prosthetic care and patient outcomes.
