Adhesive hydrogels are emerging as attractive functional materials for various fields, such as tissue engineering, wound healing, E-skins, etc. However, the removal of adhesive hydrogels from covered area may be painful and cause a secondary damage. In the current study, gelatin-based hydrogels are prepared by cross-linking with tannic acid and 4-formylphenyl boronic acid, through simultaneous dynamic covalent boronic ester and imine bond formations.

Sjögren's syndrome-related dry eye (SSDE) is a severe dry eye subtype characterized by significant immune cell attacks on the lacrimal gland. However, delivering immunosuppressive drugs to the lacrimal glands for SSDE therapy safely and sustainably poses significant challenges in clinical practice. Herein, a ROS-responsive microneedle patch with detachable functionality (CE-MN) is developed to enable straightforward and minimally invasive administration to the lacrimal gland area by penetrating the periocular skin.

Liposomes have attracted attention in biomedicine and pharmacy for their benefits including reduced toxicity, extended pharmacokinetics, and biocompatibility. However, their limitations include susceptibility to blood clearance, rapid disintegration, and lack of functionality, restricting their further applications. To address these challenges, inspired by the unique topological features of cyclic polymers and the specific binding property of the choline phosphate (CP) lipid, dipole-dipole interactions between CP molecules are utilized to create a detachable cyclic PEG-embedded CP liposome (d-cycPEG-lipo).

The intramuscular electromyography (EMG) measurement method for experimental animals has been implemented in various ways. Among these methods, tethering cables to external measurement devices can restrict the movement of experimental animals, while implantable devices may cause unwanted side effects due to the constant presence of a device with considerable size and weight. To address these issues, we propose a low-cost, wireless, detachable EMG measurement system and experimental procedure.

The development of detachable hydrogel adhesion presents an advancement in the fields of soft electronics and bioengineering as it offers additional functionalities to these applications. However, conventional methods typically rely on a single detachment trigger, so it is unclear whether unintentional detachment might occur in the specific environments of other detachment systems. This makes it difficult to directly introduce two independent detachment triggers directly.
