The composition of liposomal lipid phase preparation was selected. The optimum ratio of liposomal lipid phase components was found to produce a a human liposomal recombinant alpha 2-interferon-containing preparation by extrusion across the polycarbonate membranes. The study gave rise to a lyophilized sterile liposomal recombinant alpha 2-interferon preparation. The agent was shown to be stable and retains its antiviral activity within a year.

Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is a tropical disease that can cause chronic lesions and leave life-long scars, leading to social stigmatization and psychological disorders. Using growth factors and immunomodulatory agents that could accelerate wound healing and reduce the scar is highly demanded. Epidermal growth factor (EGF) plays an essential role in wound healing.

Exosomes are natural membrane-enclosed nanovesicles (30-150 nm) involved in cell-cell communication. Recently, they have garnered considerable interest as nanocarriers for the controlled transfer of therapeutic agents to cells. Here, exosomes were derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells using three different isolation methods.

Herpes zoster is an acute infectious skin disease caused by the reactivation of latent varicella-zoster virus, vaccination, such as subunit vaccine with good safety, can effectively prevent shingles through increasing immunity of the body. However, protein antigens are prone to degradation and inactivation, which alone is generally not sufficient to induce potent immune effect. In this study, the liposomal vaccine platform modified with mPLA (TLR4 agonist) was developed to improve the immunogenicity of glycoprotein E (VZV-gE) derived from herpes zoster virus.

Gene transfection is a fundamental technique in the fields of biological research and therapeutic innovation. Due to their biocompatibility and membrane-mimetic properties, lipid vectors serve as essential tools in transfection. The successful delivery of genetic material into the cytoplasm is contingent upon the fusion of the vector and cellular membranes, which enables hydrophilic polynucleic acids to traverse the hydrophobic barriers of two intervening membranes.

When formulating mRNA into lipid nanoparticles (LNP), various copy numbers of mRNA are encapsulated, leading to a distribution of mRNA loading levels within the LNPs. It is unclear whether the mRNA loading level affects the functional delivery of the message. Here we show that depending on the mRNA loading level, LNPs exhibit distinct mass densities and can be fractionated via ultracentrifugation.
