For the use in pharmacokinetic studies, a fast and sensitive assay method was developed for the determination of remifentanil in human heparinised whole blood samples of 0.5 ml. The assay method is based on tandem mass spectrometry detection (LC-MS/MS). The limit of quantification is 0.1 ng/ml and linear up to 50 ng/ml. The precision, accuracy, recovery and applicability were found to be adequate for pharmacokinetic studies.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of supra-inguinal fascia iliaca compartment block (S-FICB) in patients undergoing proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA) internal fixation surgery for intertrochanteric fracture (ITF).
Methods: Retrospective analysis of 95 patients with ITF undergoing PFNA internal fixation surgery in the First People's Hospital of Yong Kang from March 2021 to August 2023 was performed. Among them, 49 patients received general anesthesia (GA; GA group) and 46 patients received S-FICB combined with general anesthesia (S-FICB group).

Background: Patients with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) are considered more sensitive to opioids and at increased risk of opioid-induced respiratory depression. Nonetheless, whether OSA treatment (continuous positive airway pressure, CPAP; or bilevel positive airway pressure, BIPAP) modifies this risk remains unknown. Greater opioid sensitivity can arise from altered pharmacokinetics or pharmacodynamics.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of preemptive hydromorphone analgesia on postoperative delirium and stress response in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted, including 167 patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy at Xi'an Central Hospital between June 2021 and November 2023. Patients were categorized into an observation group (n=87) receiving preemptive hydromorphone hydrochloride analgesia and a control group (n=80) without preemptive analgesia.
