Background: Although conventional pre-operative venography can accurately delineate venous anatomy as an alternative to ultrasound for hemodialysis access planning, it may carry a risk of contrast-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) and progression of renal failure in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients not yet on dialysis. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of pre-operative venograms in pre-end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) patients.
Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study (2018-2022) of consecutive pre-ESKD patients who underwent staged bilateral venograms for preoperative vein mapping prior to hemodialysis access creation at a tertiary care medical center.

N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is the most prevalent internal modification on mRNA and plays critical roles in various biological processes including virus infection. It has been shown that m6A methylation is able to regulate virus proliferation and host innate immunity in mammals and plants, however, this antiviral defense in insects is largely unknown. Disruption of cholinesterases and, as a consequence, increased levels of acetylcholine lead to serious disturbances in the functioning of the nervous system, including death. The need for rapid administration of an antidote to restore esterase activity is critical, but practical implementation of this is often difficult. One promising solution may be the development of antidote delivery systems that will release the drug only when acetylcholine levels are elevated.

Objective: Brachial artery aneurysms are rare entities that have typically been associated with trauma, infection, arterio-venous fistula creation or connective tissue disorders. These aneurysms are often asymptomatic, but they can also cause local tenderness or thrombo-embolic events. Due to the very low incidence of true brachial artery aneurysms, there are no standardized guidelines on their optimal management.
