Lipid storage myopathies are typically present with recurrent episodes of myoglobinuria and hypoglycemia, triggered by fasting or infection. Dilated cardiomyopathy can occur. This article will discuss an approach to lipid storage myopathies and describes various forms of disorders by fatty acid oxidation.

Starch-based foods are the most common foods in the daily diets. However, starch-based foods are prone to starch retrogradation, resulting in texture hardening, taste deterioration and nutrient loss. This paper reviewed the mechanisms and the influencing factors of starch retrogradation in starch-based foods, and the strategies to mitigate it.

Antarctica has one of the most sensitive ecosystems to the negative effects of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) on its biodiversity. This is because of the lower temperatures and the persistence of POPs that promote their accumulation or even biomagnification. However, the impact of POPs on vascular plants is unknown.

However, the consequence of reduced enzyme activity within neural cell sub-types remains ambiguous. Thus, the purpose of this study was to define the effect of GCase deficiency specifically in human astrocytes and test their non-cell autonomous influence upon dopaminergic neurons in a midbrain organoid model of PD.

This study investigates the effect of 100 mg L thymol treatment on the quality of post-harvest peppers stored at 10 °C. The results showed that thymol treatment significantly reduced decay rate, reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation, and saturated fatty acid levels in peppers. Moreover, unsaturated fatty acids, non-enzymatic antioxidants, and antioxidant enzyme levels increased after treatment.

Background: Nippostrongylus brasiliensis-a nematode of rodents-is commonly used as a model to study the immunobiology of parasitic nematodes. It is a member of the Strongylida-a large order of socioeconomically important parasitic nematodes of animals. Lipids are known to play essential roles in nematode biology, influencing cellular membranes, energy storage and/or signalling.
