Objectives: The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of different loads on tremor around 10 Hz during fatiguing contractions.

Methods: Eighteen healthy volunteers performed sustained isometric knee extensions at 30%, 50% and 70% maximum voluntary contraction (MVC). During the fatiguing contractions, mechanical recordings were made with a high-resolution force sensor. Tremor-power was calculated for the 6-20 Hz frequency window as a function of time normalized to endurance time.

Results: Initial tremor power was different between the high and low load tasks. Changes of tremor with contraction time differed between the three tasks, in that tremor of the 30% MVC contraction showed the least decrease throughout the sustained contraction, whilst that of the 50% and 70% MVC showed progressively higher decreases. At failure, all 3 contractions merged to the same tremor level.

Conclusion: Load-dependent, fatigue-related 6-20 Hz tremor changes during sustained submaximum voluntary contractions seem mainly the consequence of recruitment of new units and fatigue-related properties of the high threshold motor units of muscles.

Introduction: Intraoperative microelectrode recording (MER) and intraoperative test stimulation may provide vital information for optimal electrode placement and clinical outcome in movement disorders patients treated with deep brain stimulation (DBS). The aims of this retrospective study were to determine (i) how often the planned (imaging based) placements of electrodes were changed due to MER and intraoperative test stimulation in Parkinson's disease (PD), dystonia and essential tremor (ET) patients; (ii) whether the frequency of repositioning changed over time; (iii) whether patients' age or disease duration (in PD) influenced the frequency of repositioning.

Methods: Data on the planned and the final placement of 141 electrodes in 72 consecutive DBS treated patients (52 PD, 11 dystonia, 9 ET) was collected over the first 8 years of DBS implementation in a single center.

Background: The clinical pictures of essential tremor (ET) and Parkinson's disease (PD) are often quite mimic at the early stage, and longstanding ET may ultimately develop to PD, that is, PD with "antecedent ET". Early diagnosis and differentiation of the two are essential for predicting disease progression and formulating individualized treatment plans. However, current approaches remain challenging.

Spontaneous intoxication by was diagnosed in a flock of 300 sheep in Jujuy province, northwestern Argentina, that grazed an area heavily invaded by this plant. The main clinical signs were intention tremors, ataxia, and progressive loss of condition. Autopsy of 2 affected animals revealed loss of body condition.

Rationale & Objective: Valid measures of side effects are important to inform clinical use of calcineurin inhibitors (CNIs). This study sought to develop and establish the content validity of a PRO measure to capture side effects among kidney transplant recipients taking CNIs.

Study Design: Qualitative interviews for concept elicitation and cognitive debriefing.

Hierarchy has been identified as a principle underlying the organization of human brain networks. However, it remains unclear how the network hierarchy is disrupted in Parkinson's disease (PD) motor symptoms and, how it is modulated by the underlying genetic architecture. The aim of this study was to explore alterations in the motor functional hierarchical organization of the cerebrum and their underlying genetic mechanism.
