The optical-IR images of the northern and southern Hubble Deep Fields are used to measure the spectral and density evolution of early-type galaxies. The mean spectral energy distribution is found to evolve passively toward a mid-F star-dominated spectrum by z approximately 2, becoming more sharply peaked around the 4000 Å break. We demonstrate with realistic simulations that hotter elliptical galaxies would be readily visible if evolution progressed blueward and brightward at z>2, following a standard initial mass function (IMF). The color distributions are best fitted by a "red" IMF, deficient above approximately 2 M middle dot in circle and with a spread of formation in the range 1.5

During the most active period of star formation in galaxies, which occurs in the redshift range 1 3, strong bursts of star formation result in significant quantities of dust, which obscures new stars being formed as their UV/optical light is absorbed and then re-emitted in the infrared, which redshifts into the mm/sub-mm bands for these early times. To get a complete picture of the high- galaxy population, we need to survey a large patch of the sky in the sub-mm with sufficient angular resolution to resolve all galaxies, but we also need the depth to fully sample their cosmic evolution, and therefore obtain their redshifts using direct mm spectroscopy with a very wide frequency coverage. This requires a large single-dish sub-mm telescope with fast mapping speeds at high sensitivity and angular resolution, a large bandwidth with good spectral resolution and multiplex spectroscopic capabilities.

Background: This study aimed to develop a deep learning (DL) algorithm that enhances the quality of a single-frame enface OCTA scan to make it comparable to 4-frame averaged scan without the need for the repeated acquisitions required for averaging.
Methods: Each of the healthy eyes and eyes from diabetic subjects that were prospectively enrolled in this cross-sectional study underwent four repeated 6 × 6 mm macular scans (PLEX Elite 9000 SS-OCT), and the repeated scans of each eye were co-registered to produce 4-frame averages. This prospective dataset of original (single-frame) enface scans and their corresponding averaged scans was divided into a training dataset and a validation dataset.
