To evaluate the long-term clinical outcomes of iodine-125 low dose-rate brachytherapy (LDR-BT)-based treatment approaches for ≤ cT3 prostate cancer (PC) patients in China, as well as the effects on the PC immune microenvironment. Data was retrospectively collected from 237 patients with ≤ cT3 PC who were treated with radical prostatectomy (RP) or LDR-BT alone or in combination with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), and biochemical progression-free survival (bPFS), prostate cancer-specific survival (PCSS) and overall survival (OS) rates were compared. In 63 cases, PC patients received RP after biopsy, received at least 6 months of ADT before RP, or received LDR-BT and deferred limited transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP).

Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) is the second most common obstetric complication after preterm labor. Appropriate trophoblast differentiation and placental structure, growth and function are key for the maintenance of pregnancy and normal fetal growth, development and survival. Extravillous trophoblast cell proliferation, migration and invasion are regulated by molecules produced by the fetomaternal interface, including autocrine factors produced by the trophoblast, such as insulin‑like growth factor (IGF)‑1.

Background: COVID-19 patients exhibit higher incidence of thrombosis in arteries and veins, including those in lungs. Vasa vasorum, which support large blood vessels, have shown involvement in these pathologic processes.
Methods: To further explore the extent of microvascular damage caused by COVID-19 infection, we examined resected main, right, or left pulmonary artery specimens from patients undergoing bilateral lung transplantation for COVID-19- or non-COVID-19-induced pulmonary fibrosis compared with organ donors by histologic and immunohistologic analyses.

Background: Sarcomatoid carcinoma of the small bowel is an exceedingly rare gastrointestinal tumor characterized by a biphasic cellular pattern of epithelioid and mesenchymal-like cells. Due to its rarity and non-specific clinical presentation, it is frequently misdiagnosed, and there is a lack of standardized management guidelines. We report a case of multiple sarcomatoid carcinoma of the small intestine, presenting initially with gastrointestinal perforation.

Background: Jejunocaecostomy (JC) is frequently required to bypass diseased ileum as a side-to-side (SS) anastomosis with blind end closure of the small intestine. The effects of the blind end closure method on the performance of the anastomosis have not been studied.
Objectives: To compare handsewn and stapled blind end closures of the ileum and jejunum.
