We have compiled a set of guidelines for effective multipoint videoconferencing carried out with low-cost, PC-based systems. The guidelines are based on experience gained during multipoint videoconferences in epidemiology and orthopaedics/radiology. Joint data inspection and manipulation were carried out by application sharing between the PCs. The guidelines are categorized by the time of their application and also by their content. For effective multipoint videoconferences, preparation of the agenda and of digital documents is mandatory. The prevention of echo effects and half-duplex audio connections are of special importance. A protocol to optimize the order of speakers increases the efficient use of conference time. The guidelines worked well when used in a multisite research project and addressed the most important weak points of multipoint videoconferences using low-cost equipment.

Objective: Parent skills training interventions (PSTIs) are considered first-line treatment for ADHD. We describe development and effectiveness of a culturally-contextualised PSTI for Indian families.

Method: Forty-one families divided into 5 groups, each group with 6-10 families received group PSTI comprising of 10 weekly sessions using multi-point videoconferencing as an adjunct to routine care in the non-randomized pre-post intervention study.

Transition-age youth and young adults with autism spectrum disorder have complex healthcare needs, yet the current healthcare system is not equipped to adequately meet the needs of this growing population. Primary care providers lack training and confidence in caring for youth and young adults with autism spectrum disorder. The current study developed and tested an adaptation of the Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes model to train and mentor primary care providers ( = 16) in best-practice care for transition-age youth and young adults with autism spectrum disorder.

To find technology-based solution to logistical difficulties in conducting group parent training for ADHD, this pilot study evaluated feasibility and acceptability of multi-point videoconferencing, wherein parents participated from homes or offices. Ten 90-minute weekly sessions were delivered using online videoconferencing platform. Most parents found videoconferencing quite useful, convenient, satisfactory and acceptable; and reported improved self-competency.

Objective: Addiction is a growing public health problem which affects the person, the whole family, and society. The primary care physician (PCP) is often the first point of contact in the health care and can play a significant role in the early detection and intervention. It is well established that early intervention is associated with better outcomes.

Introduction: Project Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO™) is a hub-and-spoke knowledge-sharing network, led by expert teams who use multipoint videoconferencing to conduct virtual clinics with community providers in order to improve the quality of care. For this project, members of the Addiction Technology Transfer Center network applied this model in order to enhance workforce capacity to deliver clinical supervision for the treatment of substance use disorders.

Methods: Clinical supervisors (n=66) employed in substance use disorder treatment programs were recruited to participate in this pilot study.
