An HRP-integrated CRISPR/Cas12a biosensor towards chair-side diagnosis for Porphyromonas gingivalis.

Biotechnol Lett

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology of Organic Pollutants of Chongqing, Ecological and Environment Monitoring Center of Chongqing, 252 Qishan Road, Chongqing, 401132, China.

Rapid diagnostic tools for Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg), the primary microorganism responsible for the development of periodontitis, particularly those designed for chair-side applications, could provide substantial health benefits to patients. To address this issue, we developed a CRISPR/Cas12a-based rapid Pg detection method. Dual-gRNA and hairpin reporter strategies were employed to enhance CRISPR/Cas12a reaction efficiency.

Esthetic rehabilitation of labial tooth defects caused by caries of the anterior teeth using a composite resin injection technique with veneer-shaped 3D printing indices.

J Prosthodont Res

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Oral & Maxillofacial Reconstruction and Regeneration, Key Laboratory of Oral Biomedicine Ministry of Education, Hubei Key Laboratory of Stomatology, School & Hospital of Stomatology, Wuhan University, Wuhan, PR China.

Patients: An 18-year-old woman sought treatment for caries of the anterior teeth after completing orthodontic treatment. Direct composite resin restoration was chosen because the patient preferred a minimally invasive and cost-effective treatment whenever possible. Based on diagnostic wax-up, veneer-shaped indices for composite resin injection were designed to replicate and restore tooth defects rapidly and accurately.

Objectives: This study proposes a chairside digital design and manufacturing method for band and loop space maintainers and preliminarily validates its clinical feasibility.

Methods: Clinical cases of 10 children requiring space maintenance caused by premature loss of primary teeth were collected. Intraoral scan data of the affected children were also collected to establish digital models of the missing teeth.

Statement Of Problem: The use of a scannable healing abutment is a convenient option for fabricating implant-supported restorations (ISRs) with a digital workflow; however, clinical studies evaluating prosthetic efficacy are lacking.

Purpose: The purpose of this randomized controlled trial was to investigate the prosthetic efficacy of definitive posterior single ISRs fabricated after scanning using a scannable healing abutment-scan peg (SHA-SP) in comparison with a conventional scan body (CSB). The time for data acquisition, quality of proximal and occlusal contacts, and relative occlusal force of ISRs were measured.

Time efficiency and cost analysis between digital and conventional workflows for the fabrication of fixed dental prostheses: A systematic review.

J Prosthet Dent

Statement Of Problem: Time and cost are factors that influence a patient's decision on dental prosthetic treatment. Evidence is needed to demonstrate that restoration using digital systems is more rapid and less costly than the conventional process.

Purpose: The purpose of this systematic review was to analyze and compare the duration and cost of fixed dental prostheses fabricated using digital and conventional methods from scanning or impression making to delivery of the prosthesis.
