Retina
November 2024
Department of Ophthalmology, Kyorin University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan.
Purpose: To identify the clinical parameters predictive of persistent subretinal fluid in acute central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC).
Methods: Clinical data of consecutive eyes diagnosed with first-time, acute, treatment-naïve CSC followed up for at least 6 months from symptom onset were evaluated retrospectively. Acute CSC was defined as CSC in which symptoms were noticed within 3 months of presentation.

Queens University of Belfast, Belfast, United Kingdom. Electronic address:
Purpose: To assess the correlation of lesion growth rate and baseline factors, including foveal involvement and focality, on visual loss as measured by best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) in patients with geographic atrophy (GA) secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Design: Retrospective analysis of the lampalizumab phase 3 (NCT02247479 and NCT02247531) and prospective observational (NCT02479386) trials.
Participants: Patients with bilateral GA.

School of Optometry, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
Purpose: To evaluate the association of choroidal thickness (ChT) with best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) in patients with high myopia (HM) and without myopic maculopathy.
Methods: This study was a retrospective, cross-sectional study of participants aged 7 to 70 years with bilateral HM but without myopic maculopathy. Swept-source optical coherence tomography was used to measure ChT at the fovea.
Diagnostics (Basel)
October 2024
Department of Sense Organs, Faculty of Medicine and Odontology, Sapienza University of Rome, p.le A. Moro 5, 00185 Rome, Italy.
Objectives: Our objective was to investigate the prevalence of macular complications detected by spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) in a large Caucasian cohort of RP patients, highlight the major alterations in chorioretinal structure, and compare the macular structural changes in eyes affected by retinal dystrophies with those in healthy controls.
Methods: This was an observational, retrospective, and cross-sectional study. Three hundred and seven patients with RP were consecutively enrolled and underwent clinical assessment.

December 2024
Instituto de Microcirugía Ocular (IMO), Barcelona, Spain.
Purpose: We report a case of retinal toxicity induced by SBP-101, a polyamine inhibitor for the treatment of metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma, presenting as rapidly progressive bilateral central retinal pigmented epithelium (RPE) atrophy in a patient with a silent ocular history.
Observations: A 69-year-old female patient with a metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma visited our retina clinic referring a 6-months history of blurred vision and progressive visual field loss. One year before, she started administration of SBP-101 combined with nab-paclitaxel and gemcitabine to treat her malignancy.
