In rats treated with high-dose corticosteroids, skeletal muscle that is denervated in vivo (steroid-denervated) develops electrical inexcitability similar to that seen in patients with acute quadriplegic myopathy. To determine whether changes in muscle gene transcription might underlie inexcitability of steroid-denervated muscle we performed RNase protection assays to quantitate adult (SkM1) and embryonic (SkM2) sodium channel isoforms and chloride channel (CLC-1) mRNA levels in control, denervated, steroid-innervated, and steroid-denervated skeletal muscle. While SkM1 mRNA levels were relatively unaffected by denervation or steroid treatment, SkM2 mRNA levels were increased by both. These effects were synergistic and high levels of SkM2 mRNA were expressed in denervated muscle exposed to corticosteroids. Skeletal muscle CLC-1 mRNA levels were decreased by denervation. To better understand the marked upregulation of SkM2 in steroid-denervated muscle we examined changes in myogenin and glucocorticoid receptor mRNA levels. However, changes in these mRNA levels cannot account for the upregulation of SkM2 in steroid-denervated muscle.

In this article, we aim to evaluate the effects of photobiomodulation on mitochondria quantity, biogenesis, and mitophagy-associated genes in breast cancer (BC) cells. Both models were irradiated with a low-power infrared laser (880 nm, 150 mW) and amber LED (617 nm, 1500 mW), alone or simultaneously. We evaluated the mRNA expression of PINK1 and PGC-1α genes, and the mitochondrial number was assessed based on the ratio of mitochondrial DNA/genomic DNA (mtDNA/gDNA).

Unlabelled: Osteoporosis is a condition where bones weaken due to a loss in density and quality, making them fragile and more susceptible to fractures, even from minor stress or injury. In this experimental study, we scrutinized the antiosteoporosis effect of phyllanthin against glycocorticoid (GIOP) induced osteoporosis in rats.
Methods: : SD rats were used in this study and subcutaneous administration of DEX (3 mg/kg) was used for the induction of osteoporosis and rats were treated with phyllanthin and alendronate for 12 weeks.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma lacks suitable biomarkers for early diagnosis of disease. In gene panels developed for early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, high AHNAK2 mRNA expression was one possible biomarker. In silico analysis of published human sample datasets (n = 177) and ex vivo analysis of human plasma samples (n = 30 PDAC with matched 30 healthy control) suggested AHNAK2 could be a diagnostic biomarker.

Background: Chronic neuropathic pain generally has a poor response to treatment with conventional drugs. Sympathectomy can alleviate neuropathic pain in some patients, suggesting that abnormal sympathetic-somatosensory signaling interactions might underlie some forms of neuropathic pain. The molecular mechanisms underlying sympathetic-somatosensory interactions in neuropathic pain remain obscure.

To investigate the effect of concentrated growth factor (CGF) on the biological performance of human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs) under oxidative stress status induced by hydrogen peroxide (HO). The hDPSCs were isolated by using tissue block separation method from healthy permanent teeth extracted for orthodontic reason. hDPSCs surface markers CD34, CD45, CD90 and CD105 were detected by flow cytometry.
