Objective: To determine the effects of ketoconazole (KC) on the pharmacokinetics of cyclosporine A (CsA) elimination in cats.
Study Design: Research study and prospective clinical trial.
Animals: Five healthy adult cats (pharmacokinetic studies) and 6 client-owned cats with chronic renal failure.
Methods: Blood CsA concentrations were measured after CsA (4 mg/kg i.v.) administration with or without concurrent oral KC (10 mg/kg). Subsequently, a combined CsA-KC immunosuppressive regimen was used in cats after kidney transplantation. Blood CsA concentrations were measured using high performance liquid chromatography. CsA elimination was analyzed using a computerized pharmacokinetics program.
Results: KC increased blood CsA concentrations 1.8-fold and 2.2-fold at 12 and 24 hours after CsA administration. KC significantly decreased the mean systemic CsA clearance from 2.73 mL/min/kg to 1.22 mL/min/kg resulting in an increase in the terminal phase half-life from 10.7 to 22.2 hours. The volume of distribution of steady-state of CsA was unaffected by KC. In a series of clinical feline kidney transplant patients, a once-a-day CsA-KC regimen was able to be used in most of the cats and was effective for prevention of allograft rejection in all of these cats.
Conclusion And Clinical Relevance: KC is an effective adjunct treatment for immunosuppression in feline kidney transplant patients. KC suppresses CsA elimination, which reduces the need for CsA and allows once daily administration of CsA.

To explore the changes of atlantoaxial joint spaces and pharyngeal airway after combined orthodontic-orthognathic treatment in skeletal class Ⅲ patients with mandibular deviation. A total of 34 adult skeletal class Ⅲ patients (10 males and 24 females) with mandibular deviation who received combined orthodontic-orthognathic treatment at the Department of Orthodontics and the Department of Orthognathic Surgery in the Stomatological Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from August 2014 to October 2021 were retrospectively selected. The patients were 22 (5) years old (18-33 years).

Sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (SAHS) is a respiratory disorder characterized by cessation of breathing during sleep, resulting in daytime somnolence and various comorbidities. SAHS encompasses obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), caused by upper airway obstruction, and central sleep apnea (CSA), resulting from lack of brainstem signaling for respiration. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy is the gold standard treatment for SAHS, reducing apnea and hypopnea episodes by providing continuous airflow.

: Unlike road running, mountain and trail running typically cover longer distances and include uphill and downhill segments that impose unique physiological and mechanical demands on athletes. : This study aimed to identify morphological differences in the patellar and Achilles tendons between trail and road runners. Moreover, the potential influence of weekly mileage and accumulated positive elevation gain on the morphology of both tendons was obtained.

Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) measurement parameters-the standard noninvasive diagnostic method for rotator cuff tears (RCTs)-have been used to compare groups with and without RCTs. Arthroscopy is used in definitive diagnosis and treatment.
Purposes: To evaluate the association between RCT and shoulder angles and distances on MRI in patients with and without arthroscopically validated RCT and to determine whether the degree of rotator cuff fatty degeneration affects the MRI measurements.
