The fate of bloodstream forms of Trypanosoma cruzi in tissues of mice was studied after immune elimination from circulation. Observations using transmission electron microscopy showed platelet thrombi occluding small vessels in the lung, liver, and spleen, and phagocytosed parasites in different stages of destruction within macrophages, neutrophils, and eosinophils. It is suggested that no particular cell population is a potential effector, but that different cells act in concert to destroy the parasites. The mechanism of this destruction might be related to intra- and extracellular mechanisms with trypanolytic activity.

Introduction: The venous outflow profile (VOP) is a crucial yet often overlooked aspect affecting stroke outcomes. It plays a major role in the physiopathology of acute cerebral ischemia, as it accounts for both the upstream arterial collaterals and cerebral microperfusion. This enables it to circumvent the limitations of various arterial collateral evaluation systems, which often fail to consider impaired autoregulation and its impact on cerebral blood flow at the microcirculatory levels.

Von Willebrand factor (VWF) plays a critical role in hemostasis, and emerging evidence suggests its involvement in inflammation. Our study aimed to investigate the interaction between circulating plasma VWF and neutrophils (polymorphonuclear cells, PMNs), elucidate the fate of VWF after binding, and explore its impact on neutrophil behavior. Neutrophils were isolated from the whole blood of healthy volunteers, and their interaction with plasma VWF was examined ex vivo.

N-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 LCPUFAs) are essential for physiological requirements and disease prevention throughout life but are not adequately consumed worldwide. Dietary supplementation with plant-derived α-linolenic acid (ALA) has the potential to rebalance the fatty acid profile and enhance health benefits but faces challenges such as high β-oxidation consumption, low hepatic conversion efficiency, and high oxidative susceptibility under stress. This review focuses on the metabolic fate and potential regulatory targets of ALA-containing lipids , specifically the pathway from the gastrointestinal tract to the lymph, blood circulation, and liver.

Poly(lactic-co-glycolide) (PLGA) nanoparticles are highly attractive for drug delivery due to their biocompatibility, biodegradability, and potential for controlled release and targeting. Despite these outstanding properties, challenges remain for clinical translation as nanomedicines. One significant factor to address is highlighting the protein corona structure and its effect on the drug release behavior.

Maximizing drug cargo carrying capacity in blood circulation, controlling the fate of nanoparticles, and precisely drug release to tumor targets are the main aims of multifunctional nanomedicine-based antitumor therapy. Here we combined macrocyclic polyamine di(triazole-[12]aneN) () and chemical drug camptothecin (CPT, ) through photosensitizer 1,1-dicyano-2-phenyl-2-(4-diphenylamino) phenyl-ethylene () containing the cleavable disulfide () linkage as an all-in-one theranostic nanoprodrug, . The corresponding compound with carbon chain () linkage, , was also prepared for a comparison study.
