Earlier studies have shown that sulfoconjugation is a major pathway of thyroid hormone metabolism in fetal mammals. To assess the placental transfer of sulfoconjugates in the pregnant sheep model, we measured 3,3',5-triiodothyronine (T(3)) sulfate (T(3)S), 3, 3'-diiodothyronine sulfate (T(2)S), and T(3) concentrations in fetal serum and in maternal serum and urine after T(3)S infusion to the fetus (n = 5) or the ewe (n = 6). Maternal infusion of T(3)S did not increase fetal serum T(2)S, T(3)S, or T(3) concentrations. In contrast, fetal infusion of T(3)S produced significant increases in maternal serum T(2)S and T(3)S but not T(3) concentrations. Fetal T(3)S infusion also increased maternal urine excretion of T(3)S. However, the 4-h cumulative maternal urinary excretion of T(2)S and T(3)S after fetal T(3)S infusion was less than the excretion observed after fetal infusion of equimolar amounts of T(3) in our previous study. It is concluded that fetal serum T(2)S and T(3)S can be transferred to maternal compartments. However, compared with T(3), these sulfoconjugates may be less readily transferred.

Objective: The primary objective of this study was to assess the impact of high-intensity deep squat training integrated with various blood flow restriction (BFR) modalities on the activation of lower limb and core muscles.
Methods: A randomized, self-controlled crossover experimental design was employed with 12 participants. The exercise protocol consisted of squat training at 75% of one-repetition maximum (1RM), performed in 3 sets of 8 repetitions with a 2-min inter-set rest period.

Sulfoconjugation is the major pathway for thyroid hormone (TH) metabolism, converting T4 to inactive metabolites, T4S, rT3S, and T3S in fetus, via sulfotransferases (SULT) and type 3 deiodinase in gestation. Consistent with high production rate of T4S and rT3S, there are high serum sulfated iodothyronine analogs, including T4S, T3S, rT3S, and 3,3'-T2S (T2S), in ovine and human fetal and preterm infants. Fetal TH metabolic pathways predict T2S as the major TH metabolite in the fetus.

Background: Thyroid hormones (TH), T4 and T3, mediate pro-mitogenic effects in cancer cells through binding the membrane receptor αvβ3 integrin. The deaminated analogue tetrac effectively blocks TH binding to this receptor and prevents their action. While computational data on TH binding to the αvβ3 integrin was published, a comprehensive analysis of additional TH metabolites is lacking.

Temperature variations have significant impacts on the growth and development of fish. In this study, the effects of temperature on the growth and development of European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax) were investigated using ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry-based metabolomics. Three groups of fish were exposed to various temperatures for 60 days: T1-E (10 °C), T2-E (15 °C), and T3-E (20 °C).

Introduction: The aim of this work was to assess and compare changes in pulp blood flow (PBF) and pulp sensibility (PS) after surgically assisted rapid maxillary expansion (SARME) and rapid orthopedic maxillary expansion (OME).
Methods: Ten patients requiring SARME and 10 requiring OME had the pulp status of their maxillary incisors and canines assessed with the use of laser Doppler flowmetry, electric pulp testing (EPT), and CO snow. The SARME group was assessed at T1-S (before surgery), T2-S (after surgery, before expansion), T3-S (after surgery, at completion of expansion), and T4-S (3 months after surgery).
