In this work, the lipidomic analysis on polar components of almond, coconut, and soy beverages was performed by liquid chromatography quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry. A comparison with bovine milk was also performed. A total of 30 subclasses of polar lipids, belonging mainly to glycerophospholipids and sphingolipids, and a total of 572 molecular species were identified.

Molecular pathological characteristics and mechanisms of the liver in metabolic disease-susceptible transgenic pigs.

Life Sci

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Animal Biotech Breeding, Institute of Animal Science, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), Beijing 100193, China. Electronic address:

Aims: This study aimed to explore the molecular pathological mechanisms of the liver in metabolic disease-susceptible transgenic pigs via multiomics analysis.

Materials And Methods: The triple-transgenic (PNPLA3-GIPR-hIAPP) pig model (TG pig) was successfully constructed in our laboratory via the CRISPR/Cas9 technique previously described. Wild-type (WT) pigs and TG pigs after 2 or 12 months of high-fat and high-sucrose diet (HFHSD) induction (WT2, TG2, WT12, and TG12 groups, respectively) were used as materials.

Characterization of gallbladder disease in metachromatic leukodystrophy across the lifespan.

Mol Genet Metab

January 2025

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Neurology, 3401 Civic Center Blvd, Philadelphia 19104, PA, USA. Electronic address:

Metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD) is a progressive demyelinating disorder resulting from the toxic accumulation of sulfatides. The stereotyped neurodegeneration of MLD is well understood, and cases are categorized into subtypes by age at neurologic onset: late infantile (LI), juvenile (J), and adult. The systemic burden of disease, such as gallbladder involvement, however, is less well characterized.

Article Synopsis
  • * The study involves a new technique using a strontium tris-phenanthroline reagent that allows for the separation of sulfatide diastereomers based on the number of ligands they form.
  • * This method was successfully applied to imaging mass spectrometry on sulfatides from rat brain tissue, enabling clear images of both α- and β-linked sulfatides.
