Objective: Recent studies have suggested that the rate of cesarean delivery in patients who have undergone a successful external cephalic version is higher than expected. This study compares the incidence of cesarean delivery in patients who underwent successful external cephalic version and patients with primary cephalic presentations.

Study Design: We identified and reviewed the charts of 92 patients who underwent a successful external cephalic version. We identified a control population of 184 patients from the delivery room logs. We collected outcome data and information on additional risk factors that may affect cesarean delivery rates.

Results: There were no significant differences between study and control populations. There was no significant difference in the cesarean delivery rate between study patients (22.8%) and control patients (23.4%).

Conclusions: We could not demonstrate a significant increase in the cesarean delivery rate for women who underwent successful external cephalic version in comparison with patients in labor with primary cephalic presentations.

Purpose: This study evaluates the effectiveness of the inverted internal limiting membrane (ILM) flap technique during vitrectomy for treating macular hole-induced retinal detachment (MHRD) in high myopia patients, a challenging complication for vitreoretinal surgeons due to its treatment complexity.

Methods: We conducted a prospective study analyzing 92 eyes diagnosed with MHRD, all undergoing vitrectomy using the inverted ILM flap technique between February 2022 and September 2024. Successful surgery was defined as achieving retinal reattachment, macular hole closure, and improvement in visual acuity by the 12-month postoperative follow-up.

Development and Validation of the Interpreting Learning Engagement Scale (ILES).

Behav Sci (Basel)

Key Laboratory of Multilingual Education with AI, School of Education, Shanghai International Studies University, Room 1332, 1550 Wenxiang Road, Songjiang, Shanghai 201620, China.

This study developed and validated the Interpreting Learning Engagement Scale (ILES), which was designed to measure the engagement of students in the interpreting learning context. Recognizing the crucial role of learning engagement in academic success and the acquisition of interpreting skills, which demands considerable cognitive effort and active involvement, this research addresses the gap in empirical studies on engagement within the field of interpreting. The ILES, comprising 18 items across four dimensions (behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and agentic engagement), was validated with data collected from a cohort of 306 students from five universities in China.

Deep learning model targeting cancer surrounding tissues for accurate cancer diagnosis based on histopathological images.

Accurate and fast histological diagnosis of cancers is crucial for successful treatment. The deep learning-based approaches have assisted pathologists in efficient cancer diagnosis. The remodeled microenvironment and field cancerization may enable the cancer-specific features in the image of non-cancer regions surrounding cancer, which may provide additional information not available in the cancer region to improve cancer diagnosis.

Sulfur-containing gases produced during the utilization of petroleum fuels are the main cause of air pollution. To remove organic sulfur-containing compounds from simulated gasoline, magnetic hydrophobic Cu-containing SBA-15 mesoporous molecular sieves (PMS-Cu) were prepared by magnetization of the sample, loading and reduction of copper ion and hydrophobic treatment of the sample. The composition and structure of the synthesized composites were characterized by XRD, FTIR, SEM, TEM, and XPS, which proved the successful preparation of the adsorbent PMS-Cu.

Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Seoul National University Boramae Hospital, Seoul National University College of Medicine, Seoul, Republic of Korea.

Scalp reconstruction, particularly with complex defects and infection risks, often favors microvascular free flaps. However, this method can result in unavoidable alopecia and undesirable aesthetics. This report describes a novel case where hair transplantation via follicular unit extraction (FUE) was applied to a free myocutaneous flap.
